Went to PGH at schofields on sunday to try to finalise a external color scheme before the HOG appointments in few weeks time. The start was ok, nobody there, manage to get a consultant rite away. Then everything went down hill from there.
Informed her of the color scheme we thinking.
roof - monier horizon FIG (purple-grey) in the sun its like purple/plum color.. in shade its dark grey.. (thats how i see it)
brick - Mocha with rake finish and natural mortar.
Straight away she said that wont work cuz the gutter/fasica color LOFT is discontinued and there is no replacement or simpler color that will go with the roof. Nobody picks that color or very uncommon.
Also having the natural mortar doesn't go with anything either she said. we dont want white or off white cuz it stands out to much to our liking.
Then i started asking bout different colors for the gutter fascia, everything was met with a "no no" or a werid facial expression, then she went and changed the roof tile to caraway (dark brown-grey) and started showing us combinations that she thought where good.
The combination were ok but we didnt like the roof color, felt it was to dark.
maybe after 20 - 30mins she left us "too decide and help other customers". I could tell she was annoyed with us, since i didnt agree with her color scheme.
Anyway another 2hrs or so went by and i was just playing around with my own colors and helping myself to the "Staff draw with all the color samples in it. she would occasionally walk past and ask how we going, but more just to ask but not help or add suggestions since the fig tile was being used.
during this 2 hrs about 3 couples had been and gone (30min max) with there selections, happy to go with the consultant ideas but never asking questions - why why why ?? i overheard her even saying "i dont work with grey" which the couple changed there color scheme. Also mentioned that the colortouch app they keep refering ppl to use isn't good cuz the colors dont look the same as the real thing..
I was thinking grey / brown colors for the gutters / fasica, in thinking that they would blend with the roof & brick.
She did suggest light color - dune when we first arrived but only cuz i pushed for fig. but to me that stands out which i dont want them too.
After that she said "if you choose ur own combinations we/i wont sign them off as approved by consultant. something like that" i guess to cover her butt. asked if she had a list with house that had a fig roof since we had been given a list with mocha bricks around the sydney area. that was " No u have too ring monier and ask urself" rudely also..
The wife was patient the whole time, didnt really say too much but agreed that her attitude was terrible.
Anyway we still not sure but here is 3 that we like, please let me know your thoughts & your experience with pgh / selection process.
