Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 Feb 03, 2014 9:41 am I would like to paint a few feature walls after painting the interior of my house an off white. I am picturing the colour in my head but can't find it in a paint colour. I would like a mix between grey and duck egg. Does anyone know of a colour like this? Also open to any other colour suggestions as long as they are not too dark. Thanks Re: feature wall colour 2Feb 03, 2014 11:37 pm Taubmans grey gamut? But don't forget to look for colours that can be done in half or quarter strength; then you don't have to worry about a paint colour being too dark. The other way to go is to bring something which is your perfect shade to the paint shop and get them to analyze it. Re: feature wall colour 3Feb 04, 2014 8:08 am I'm always wary of feature walls. Another way might be a lesser shade of the same paint - ie lighter or darker - depending on position. It can really bring out the main colours. Re: feature wall colour 7Feb 08, 2014 6:13 pm Another one I've found is Rain cloud (Taubmans). It's a greyed bluish greenish colour, quite light. Spanish olive is a lot darker than I think what you are after. Re: feature wall colour 8Jul 13, 2014 9:43 am My house is being painted in my absence (overseas) and it seems the lounge/TV room and the big "family" room will now be switching furniture and purposes. The main colour on the walls and door frames is to be Hog's Bristle (an off white/cream) throughout the house, but I need to select a suitable colour for a large, dramatic feature wall in the new lounge/TV room, which will have re-polished wood floors and a large, medium blue, fabric lounge suite that has the texture of a wide corduroy. The room is open-plan. (The new "family" room, near the front door, will have the pale yellow retro leather couch with silver chrome legs, a glass-topped, silver chrome coffee table and a silver-framed poster, which is mainly yellow with a splash of red.) Anyway, one painter has recommended red for the feature wall against the medium blue of the lounge suite (although I think he was assuming the yellow/silver furnishing colour scheme was staying in that room), another painter just recommended blue/green, and I also have a large tin of pale mint green paint (originally bought for a different, but now abandoned, idea for feature walls in the entry hall open-plan dining room.) Or, do I get both adjoining rooms with the same long feature wall? Please help this confused colourblind man make his decision from afar!
