Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 Nov 17, 2013 12:46 pm Hi All, We are currently in the process of getting a custom double story home designed with a draftman and would like input on the style and potential colours/materials for the facade. The draftman has one version of the facade which I have dutifully replicated in Revit and attached some screenshots below (forgive the look, first time Revit user) as I am a visual person and need the walkthroughs and 3D views to really get a feel for it. Essentially we want something not tooo fancy, but not boring either. We like the stepped in approach on the top story using thinner foam render than the bottom. We were thinking all render but not opposed to some brick on bottom, stone work/wood on pillars or even cladding on the top half of the house. Essentially muted colours, browns/whites/creams etc. Currently it is designed with colourbond roof (will be darker grey/black either way, don't like the lighter look on the roof) Would LOVE input on any changes you think on the facade itself (still in design process so we can change easily enough) as well as finishing touches.. Thanks heaps Pics from Revit 3D view (not 100% correct, not sure what happened to top of garage - it will be a flat parapet roof though) and I am sure there are some more side windows upstairs above the garage, never used Revit before but you get the idea!!) Maybe something like this... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Not stack stone though (unless you really like it). I think it's been done to death. Then some cladding could be really cool on the top story. It'll depend on the tiles/bricks you choose and what look you're going for but you could do something like this... (The horizontal stuff in this pic is Scyon Axon) Or more modern is the Scyon Matrix... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I love these two houses... I think we are coming around to a cladding look on the top floor - never knew the name of the stuff until now so thanks for that. I did mention cladding at one point to the draftsman as currently the plans indicate foam render on the top floor. Not sure if you can clad this, or if it will need an alternate design and how it would impact on engineering side of things. Its part the reason why we want to lock down the facade as the engineering plans will be drawn up soon. I recently saw a house with thick plank hardwood timber stained decking boards running vertically up the two pillars on either side of the front door and it was impressive and a definite change from all the stacked stone you see around. Not sure if it would suit our L shaped portico area though .. And then there are the colour choices! sometimes its too much choice I think. Any other suggestions from people who know much more than I? there are no suggestions too stupid Re: Fix my Facade... pleeeease... 4Nov 19, 2013 7:29 am It sounds like you need to find out what you like in terms of combinations. Brick + render + cladding + stone etc. That's part of the design process. Then comes colours which you already seem to have some idea of your preference there. You've got a big house so lots of room to play with the options. DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair If the railhead is so poorly fixed it is also likely that the railhead is also non compliant, what about overflows and sealing railhead to the gutters?. 3 6022 Need to remove glass panel out of concrete without wrecking the glass to get the spa room in, any recommendations on how to do that.
