Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 May 06, 2008 2:44 pm Hi guys
This is a picture of a feature cornice at my mum's house. I really like it and want something similar in our living areas, but having looked through all my builder's brochures I couldn't find something even similar. The plasterer who did Mum's place was a friend of a friend, so we asked him, and he said, oh it's just one from Boral, you can get them anywhere, but didn't know the exact name. I've tried all over Boral's website and can't find it. Has anyone else seen it, or something similar? thanks in advance Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Anyone seen this cornice? 3May 06, 2008 3:40 pm Thanks for taking the time to post the pics Matt, but no, none of them quite look the same... My mum's one is less curved, I think, the very middle of the cornice is still at a soft right angle, at least it looks that way to me. But all the 'stepped' ones I've seen are very starkly stepped - ie too geometrical. Mum's one just looks a bit softer than that.
LOL just re-read that, probably not making sense? Re: Anyone seen this cornice? 4May 06, 2008 4:03 pm Porta also has cornicing...
http://www.porta.com.au/depictions.php Can't see anything that matches, don't know if you can combine. Porta would be an expensive way to go as it's timber.... mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard Re: Anyone seen this cornice? 5May 06, 2008 4:58 pm Have a quick look here for a shape.

There are a couple on that link that look similar (SMVOGUE and FMVOGUE I think they were called) but if they only come in timber I don't think I'll bother with the extra $$$.
The thing I liked about my parents' one is that I KNOW they wouldn't have spent much, if any, extra on an aesthetic detail like that, so I knew my hubby would agree to it! Will keep searching ... or just go with the other one I selected but not totally happy with ... Re: Anyone seen this cornice? 7May 06, 2008 5:13 pm Thanks Al. I like the shadow set one on the link you posted. Looks cheap enough, wonder if they would charge extra to install it?
I've seen the Sydney and Manly ones, they are nice but too curvy compared to the one I was after. Wish I hadn't seen it now that I can't find it! Have you got any pics of the ones at your house Al? Would be interested to see how they look in an actual room ... if I like it I might be able to change my mind ... thanks Re: Anyone seen this cornice? 8May 06, 2008 5:18 pm Do you have a Boral warehouse near you? When I needed to match some cornice in this house, I just took a picture of the cornice down to the Boral warehouse and bought what I wanted, but we were doing the cornice and ceiling ourselves.
'chelle We have a hand-over date...15/10...but I won't hold my breath! http://people-in-glass-houses.blogspot.com/ Re: Anyone seen this cornice? 9May 06, 2008 5:26 pm Excellent idea 'chelle! I am so internet-minded these days, I forget that sometimes it's a good idea to actually go into a shop to find something
I can see they have a Plasterboard Sales centre in Deer Park, Caroline Springs and Port Melb so will check them out. Many thanks Re: Anyone seen this cornice? 10May 06, 2008 5:37 pm Boral has the ClassiCove range but not sure if any of them is exactly the same as the post picture. To me it looks like the ClassiCove Sydney.
