Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 Sep 01, 2013 6:42 pm We would like to spruce up our front facade. We are in a display home street and our house looks a little plain in comparison. We were thinking of putting up some horizontal timber cladding over the render above the front door and attempt to find a stain that matches the Caoba Dawn garage door. Then, in addition, we are looking into some fairly neutral, grey tiles with a subtle texture to put over the grey columns. Then, some outdoor lights on the columns. Probably up/down lights so it shines on the timber. I'm just wondering what everyone thinks of this idea and whether it will work or whether its too much? Here are some pics of how it looks currently: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Front facade help - timber cladding, tiles etc 2Sep 01, 2013 10:00 pm Timhet, it sounds like somegood modifications, but why not think about alucabond over the columns and the large red pabel? @builderforlife Building inspector and passionate about construction When you need an expert to take a look. Re: Front facade help - timber cladding, tiles etc 3Sep 03, 2013 4:15 pm Thanks for the suggestion. On second thought, what does everything think of the idea of painting the render above the garage and front door a dark grey (similar to the roof), then putting up some tiles on the light grey pillars and make them the feature? I'm really hopeless when it comes to colors and designs. I just don't want to botch it up. Re: Front facade help - timber cladding, tiles etc 4Sep 05, 2013 10:03 pm I like the grey pillars but defiantly think the wood will help it tie in with your garage door & front door. Can't wait to see your modifications! Think you'll be surprised at how different your place will look after its landscaped that will make a huge difference. The roof tiles and gutters are Woodland Grey I'm thinking against the timber for the render above the front door due to the maintenance required. I'm thinking it will be just better to paint the render a color that will suit. Would using Woodland Grey over the Red render work do you think, or should I go for another colour?
