We have design guidelines we have to adhere to for our build.
I'm interested in what people would regard as boutique bricks. I'll give the context as written in the guidelines:
"...external walls constructed of a minimum 50% brick, brick veneer, stone, rendered fibrous cement panels or masonry veneer
The facade must be constructed using a mixture of external building materials and must include a minimum of 20% of material other than brick on the facade. Materials other that brick may include:
- render
- boutique bricks
- stacked stone
- sandstone or masonry blocks
- painted weatherboard
- lightweight cladding
- timber cladding."
I was out looking at bricks today and came across a lovely combination of two bricks from the same range. They've actually build a house using the combination I'm eyeing off about 45 mins from here, I haven't seen it yet, but apparently they used a fawny colour as the main brick and a pale cream brick for the garage. I'm planning to go have a look this weekend, but was just wondering if anyone thought I could fight for that as a boutique brick seeing as its an accent? I'm not a huge fan of render but if I can't get this approved then thats what we'll have to end up doing unless anyone else has some brilliant ideas for me!
* I do plan on getting some clarification from the design review panel before I submit my plans, but wanted to wait until I had a picture of the example already built to strengthen my case. I'm just impatient and wanted some feedback sooner!
