I did actually find that on the website after I posted this, but it still isn't really clear to a layperson like me. It says more about which kinds of stains aren't suitable, than which are. I think it says that Linea board, being cement based cannot absorb a stain like wood, and effectively you are just covering the surface of the Linea board, not penetrating it. Oil based stains penetrate the wood to protect it, that is the purpose of the oil, they can't penetrate Linea Board and the oil is not absorbed. Most modern furniture has a stain which is sprayed on, when you damage the stain you can see the light coloured bare timer underneath - no penetration. So, you can only coat Linea Board, and just like applying paint to wood, it needs a steady hand to give an even coat, with a transparent stain, getting it even is even more challenging. It also says clear coat does not work so well, but that is true of all clear coat on all surfaces that are exposed to the weather and UV. In short, paint it...
