Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 Mar 31, 2013 4:49 pm I'm wondering if anyone can tell if there is a Solver Exterior stain in quite a dark chocolate type colour? Thanks Our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64705 Re: Dark chocolate Solver Exterior stain colour? 2Mar 31, 2013 7:44 pm There is Solver Black and that is what we have used on our front doors, ensuite doors and bi- folds. It was the darkest stain available but it does not come up black but rather a very dark brown. ETA: I have tried to add a pic of our doors but the iPad is being moronic and won't let me click the link in photobucket. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. And it sounds just like what I am after. We are thinking of having that kind of stain on the front windows and door, with Boral Glenfern bricks Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ and Dune render on the columns Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The facade will be similar to this, it isn't exactly this house though. Im sure there were darker stains though, ill find my sample card and let you know the name Re: Dark chocolate Solver Exterior stain colour? 5Apr 01, 2013 7:00 am Ok got my samples...your best choice would be solver English Walnut I think. its a nice dark chocolate brown colour and probably the only stain that looks brown instead of slightly red/orange. the solver black is also an option but it is very dark! Just depends what you are after the ash brown Im having would be too light for what you want but its the next in line for darkness so you do really only have those 2 options i mentioned above! Re: Dark chocolate Solver Exterior stain colour? 6Apr 01, 2013 10:12 am thank you xxkatxx! I popped into the paint store and they got out the card with the stains- and those two that you mentioned are definitely the options, because as you say they don't have the red/orange undertones. I am leaning towards the black, we will see how we go though. On a side note, where did you manage to get your hands on the sample brochure? I am told they don't make it anymore, so I guess I can't get my hands on it. Im gonna have to try hard not to change my selection...but it looks so good!!! Might ask the other half... I can't actually remember where I got the stain samples...but i do remember finding it extremely difficult to get my hands on one! Re: Dark chocolate Solver Exterior stain colour? 9Apr 01, 2013 4:18 pm Joles, oh that looks great. See I was leaning towards the darkest stain, but then we went to some PD displays today, and saw a front door that looked basically black, which put me off the solver black stain. But your pic looks perfect. It would depend on the timber used and how many coats as to how dark it turns out.... hmmm Our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64705 Re: Dark chocolate Solver Exterior stain colour? 11Oct 01, 2013 8:22 am Hi megz...
