Its all about fitting it out right. Have a look at your WIR, are there areas of wasted space? ie - spare space under your long hanging where a drawer or two could go. Do you have it fitted out or just a bar for hanging? Paula Re: WIR ideas 12Jul 15, 2008 10:27 am I'm also interested in this topic - my WIR is not overly big at all, just a standard side (I'll have to get exact measurements for you Paula)
But I'm after some storage ideas, good old DH wears alot of tracksuit pants and hoodies (he is lucky to have a job that doesn't require him to wear any suits/shirts/trousers). I currently have some trackies in some wire basket storage systems I got from Howards Storage, but I prefer the integrated look. I would love to incorporate shoes, a few bags (not heaps) hats (mainly beanies/caps) as well as drawers and hanging space, not sure if this is possible in such a small space. In our current WIR we have a shelp at the top where everything (bags, hats, gloves) has basically been chucked (it looks terrible) I'd love a bit more uniformity to my new WIR, I was thinking using the shelf above the hanging rail and diving it up into sections (some how?) and having a little stool handy so I can stand on that to get up there to reach things (hat, bags, gloves etc). The rest of the WIR can be used for hanging space and drawers then. I'll pop back in with the actual dimensions and see what you can come up with My karma ran over your dogma Re: WIR ideas 13Jul 15, 2008 10:38 am Our WIR is about 2m x 2m. Door in the centre of one side. Shelf around the entire top, about 2100 high. Hanging space along side behind door (2 bays, one rail, shoe shellves at the bottom) across the end (2 bays, two rails for shirts/pants), two sets of drawers/shelves (4 drawers, 4 shelves) and 5 shelves for jumpers etc. I'll see if I can find a plan.
Quotes varied by about a grand for pretty much the same thing. Went with the cheapest and they did a great job. So there is space to work with I guess. I put all my jumpers etc on the shelf and I have some hanging shoe racks etc temporarily.
Sorry about the size. Here is a idea of the WIR size. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I would say both styles you have pictured are steel. The lower chord of the first pic would be a massive lump if made using timber considering the size of the rafters.
