Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 Apr 15, 2008 11:15 am Hi everyone,
I am renovating my house and have been trawling all the display homes in my area and have come up with the current paint combo scheme. We are going to be using Bristol (i can get a discount!!!) The colours are Mosaico low sheen for the walls. The doors, architraves around the windows and doors, etc will all be in the same colour but in a water based gloss. My first question - is the water based gloss the same as a semi gloss. For the feature walls in the living area the colour we have chosen is Joey. All the small rooms - laundry, toilet etc will just be in the Mosaico with no feature wall. And the four kids rooms will be Mosaico with one or two (still deciding) feature walls in a colour of their choice - perhaps with a bit of influence from me!!! Any hints, help, ideas and thoughts are most welcome. Looking forward to hearing from all you knowledgable people. Thanks and cheers, Tania Re: Paint ideas 3Apr 15, 2008 11:37 am Tania,
Bristol paint was used in my house and the finish is absolute garbage. The finish, the coverage etc is terrible. The guys who painted it on said thats the norm with Bristol as a product. We did a few walls in Dulux and I will never look back (same paintersmuch better result) The painters also said that Dulux is a much better product to work with. Good luck though. Re: Paint ideas 4Apr 15, 2008 11:43 am Thanks for your help.
We used Dulux last time - maybe i will forgo the discount and take the colours I have picked to Dulux and get them to replicate them!!! And i have no idea if the gloss already used is water based or not - we bought an established home ![]() Cheers, Tania Re: Paint ideas 5Apr 15, 2008 7:02 pm No…. gloss is a full gloss, which is what your architraves around the windows and doors should be in. ![]() My first choice in paints are Dulux, its all I use! ![]() Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Paint ideas 6Apr 22, 2008 11:19 am Hi,
Back again with more paint questions....... I have found out that the previous owners used dulux super enamel semi-gloss on the inside doors, architraves and skirtings and dulux super enamel high gloss on the pantry. Can i paint with a low sheen straight over the high gloss or do i have to sand it back?? Also, there are some walls that are suede effect. Do i just sand them back as well to paint them in a low sheen?? Thanks for any help. Never ask questions about the amount I order. ![]() My clients can relate better to the A4 colour swatch. To me, and I have been using Dulux paints for a very long time, the product has a really good finish.
