Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 Apr 11, 2008 5:18 pm We have recently purchased an established house and whilst we are happy with most of the color schemes we intend to repaint the master bedroom. We settle in May so unfortunately no photos of the bedroom yet.
The bedroom has two feature walls - I'm not a decorator but I think that's one color two many - and they have been painted with suede effects. Our preference would be to repaint with a non-suede effect paint, i.e. a flat paint. What preparation do you have to do to the existing wall, do you have to sand the suede effect right off, is there an intermediate coat between the suede effect and the flat paint, or will the flat paint cover the suede effect.... Don’t paint in a flat!!! You will never be able to clean it. Use a low sheen to semi gloss. You will need to sand the wall back with a light sand paper. Just enough to get the rough bits off, as Suede paints have a texture to them. Once you have got all the BITS off, wipe the wall down well with a slightly damp cloth. Then paint!
