Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 Dec 17, 2012 8:39 pm So, we are really struggling with our main render colour. Any colour which we think looks good on the front of the house comes out really dark on the back. We have lots of good natural light and we are painting onto primed walls. Has anyone experienced this and how we do we get around it.? After 15+ sample pots in different strengths we are desperate for some advice. Also has anyone used a nice grey/beige they can suggest? http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y380/bendezo/photo_zpsd80d1591.jpg http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y380/bendezo/photo2_zpsd7e43019.jpg Re: Render paint colour dilemna 2Dec 17, 2012 11:31 pm What colours do you like? Are there some samples that you like but have come out too light/dark etc? We are using a warm grey on our house but I know the colour isn't to everyones taste. Our colours are dulux flooded gum and tristan. Not sure about the light issues, I think most houses would struggle with this at different times in the day and probably the seasons as well. I guess my advice would be to find a colour that looks good on the front in the morning/midday/afternoon etc and work with that. Re: Render paint colour dilemna 3Dec 18, 2012 5:10 am Do full strength of a colour on the front and go 1/2 that colour on the back. If the colour is as dark as you say on the back, the colour change should blend well and not be noticed. Not really sure why the front works and the back is dark, it looks like it should be the other way around with the natural light. Has the render dried properly?? Pellana - We were actually looking at your house last night and wondering if I should try just one last sample pot of the Flooeded Gum. Is it a warm grey? Thats the look that we are going for. Michelle - we were thinking of changing the strengths but not sure if it was the done thing. We are really cautious of going too dark as we do prefer the lighter colours. Render is def dry. It has been on now for almost 3 months. What do you think of the colour Dulux Bleaches?? We have 100%, 150% and 200% pots. Re: Render paint colour dilemna 5Dec 19, 2012 8:16 am So we painted a full wall in 200% and it is very light and very bland looking - if that term can applied to paint. I went got a sample of the Flooded Gum and compared to the bleaches it is much greyer but as I have found ou colours look so different on full walls. Pellana - do you find that it is still quite a warm grey?? Serriously considering changing our colour to this one based on your recommendation. Re: Render paint colour dilemna 6Dec 19, 2012 8:46 am Oh gosh, if you really like the colour go for it but I would hate to be responsible for something you don't end up liking. I find on our house you can see the warmth in it and if you compare it to a cool blue it looks very warm. Our paint was also done in 3 coats so maybe that makes a difference. Have you tried painting a section in the flooded gum? Re: Render paint colour dilemna 7Dec 19, 2012 10:27 am I have tried a test patch. I like it but I wasnt always so keen on such a grey colour but prob going to give up and just do it. Dont worry I wont hold you responsible : ) Im just really bad when it comes to picking colours and stuff. Give me floor plans to design any day!! Does your thow a little bit of blue as well? Re: Render paint colour dilemna 8Dec 19, 2012 10:39 am Just re-read my reply and I dont want you to think that I was being rude to your colours in any way. Just think that I should trust someone who has done a colour and loved it cos I cant find anyone else who has done the Bleaches. Re: Render paint colour dilemna 9Dec 20, 2012 5:36 pm I love the colour Bleaches!! Needless to say we should have done Dune. not a huge issue because we still 2 coats to go and we are out of paint do easy enough to change but we think that dune might still be too light. Has anyone seen Dune 200% done. Michelle?? Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7171 Hi Alex, Thanks for the reply again. I had a chat with the builder, he said he will use primer, then hydrotec which comes with colour and sealer as well. A Renderer I… 12 18100 I am looking for someone who might have tackled a similar issue as me. I have a few rendered interior walls, the surface condition is hardly flat. I can see all the bumps… 0 7967 |
