Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 Dec 08, 2012 12:59 am Hey guys, just completed my colour selection yesterday but it seems I am not so at peace with what I have chosen so far I have two options for my exterior and is subject to the costing for the off-white mortar. Would appreciate all your input and feedback. I have sort of an inclination to Option 1, however, I need a second opinion to the color scheme. This is for a single storey house. I am yet to discover how to upload an image so I can show you the Elevation 1. Here they are: Option 1 - Bricks with Render to front Roof Tiles - Parchment Gutter - Dune Fascia - Jasper Render - Manhattan T122-6W Garage Door - Jasper Downpipes on brick - Greenstead T122-8A Downpipes on rendered - Manhattan Window Frames - Monument Front Entry Door - Beige Chalk T122-3W Option 2 - Bricks all through-out Roof Tiles - Parchment Gutter - Dune Fascia - Jasper Bricks - Austral Brick Leisure Mortar - Off-white (any thoughts if I just leave it as natural only so I would not incur any more cost?) Garage Door - Dune Downpipes - Greenstead T122-8A Window Frames - Monument Front Entry Door - Beige Chalk T122-3W - My First Home Build Journey Land Contract, 19/09/12 C@ Builder Initial Deposit, 30/09/12 ⛳ Land Settlement, 31/10/12 HIA Contract Signed, 10/11/12 Colour Selection, 06/12/12 Re: Help!!! - exterior colour options 2Dec 08, 2012 1:19 am Hope this one works. Appreciate any constructive feedback from you guys. Thanks!!! However if it was me I'd pick option 2 as I generally prefer a brick facade as it's nil maintenance. Not sure how close the mock-up colour scheme is regarding the bricks and roof tiles. A (supplier) link regarding the bricks and roof tiles to your post for a better colour check would be helpful. I would paint the front door colorbond “headlands” for a more architectural look. Cheers…. Re: Help!!! - exterior colour options 7Dec 09, 2012 11:19 pm Thanks for your replies. I actually reconsidered my option due to the following: a) Brick - nil maitenance against render b) Render to front with 1m returns to side - will show half render/half brick on sides (I am on a strict budget so I can't afford to render the entire house). I am getting a relaxation to front boundary and hoping I can get approval, then it would be too obvious To ecofriendly, thanks for highlighting my bricks mock-up color. I tried to redo using the closer version (appreciate any feedback to see if the color is really close to the brick supplier's color ). I am reconsidering getting a color similar to the garage door. Anyother suggestion? I am actually nnot sure if I can still get it changed without incurring extra charges for admin fee, I had my colour selection last thursday and I don't know if they would still allow me to change it. Has anyone done a colour selection and has to change your mind afterwards??? Last question, would you think a natural mortar will be fine with the brick colour? - My First Home Build Journey Land Contract, 19/09/12 C@ Builder Initial Deposit, 30/09/12 ⛳ Land Settlement, 31/10/12 HIA Contract Signed, 10/11/12 Colour Selection, 06/12/12 Re: Help!!! - exterior colour options 8Dec 10, 2012 4:02 pm Check first for variation costs. One of the render draw backs is that on the south side of the house, mould can appear especially if you have no eaves or short eaves. Consider using a bagged finish (personal taste) on the left side of the house going from the door around to the other side where your tank is. Don’t finish render or bagged finish on a corner. Your brick will be fine with the natural colour mortar. Play around with below colour schemes: Option 1 Roof Tiles - Parchment Gutter – Dune Fascia - Dune Render or bagged finish - Surfmist (left side of house only) Mortar – Off-white, flush-finish Garage Door - Surfmist Downpipes – match to brick or render Window Frames – Surfmist or similar Front Entry Door – Surfmist Option 2 Roof Tiles - Parchment Gutter - Dune Fascia - Dune Render or bagged finish - Dune (left side of house only) or bricks only Mortar – natural, flush-finish Garage Door – Dune Downpipes – match to brick or render Window Frames – Dune or light grey Front Entry Door – Try colorbond "loft" Be aware that the colour scheme for your actual house will look different to the mock-up version.
