Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 Jul 24, 2012 12:54 am Hi all!! I'm hoping to get some advice for our internal paint scheme - mainly living areas. We have pretty much decided on 2 colours we want to use - 1 as the main colour and the other as a highlight/feature colour. Below is a photo of these colours; Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And again (same house) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Here is our floor plan, colour selections for kitchen & blackbutt flooring; Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We are painting all doors and door frames in designer white so shouldn't be an issue. Mainly wondering what you guys think we should highlight in the grey or any other ideas you may have?? (this is for entry, dining, living, games & kitchen) We kinda have our own ideas but wanting to see what others suggest first. Building the Riva by Dale Alcock Homes. You must have your furniture placement in place before you select feature walls. In my opinion the colour scheme uses far too much grey even though you’re using black butt on the floors and white accents. You need to get the colour proportions right. Keep your tiles in the kitchen neutral because the grey is going to date in 5 – 10 years and it would be too much of a hassle to change them; more important the kitchen cabinets and bench tops would be a major cost to change. It is always better to stick with the classic colours for high cost ticket items, like the kitchen. Cheers PS Internal colour help! 4Jul 24, 2012 11:41 pm Hi Eco Sorry I should have added to the photo the grey tile is actually a sample of Caesarstone benchtop. The brown glass behind will be the Splashback. Building the Riva by Dale Alcock Homes. I'm just wondering tho the whole thing might look too grey if you use the laminex sample above for your cupboard doors as well. I've just recently built and we went with Grey, black, white and chrome colour scheme (I plan to add pops of colour with styling). We also have Blackbutt floors. For my kitchen I went with concrete benchtops (light grey), matalic dark grey glass splashback and matt white cupboard (top) and gloss black draws at on the bottom. We're really happy with it. When you add a splash of colour with a bowl of fresh green apples and a bunch of pink or white oriental lilies (my favourite) it looks pretty nice. There are some photo of the kitchen on my blog if you want to check it out. I'm a visual person so I find photos always helpful. There's so many different varieties of "grey" now! It is so easy to accessorise with grey as your base. Case in point, the small touches of charcoal, greens, yellows, and the bright reds of the large painting. It does look great against the blackbutt. The other great thing with grey is it's an easy colour to paint over if you decide to change it down the track and the crisp white lifts the scheme. Reading down I am not sure what your question is : it's nitey nitey for me... Thanks. Yeh ideally that would have been good, but have progressed too far now. Hoping some well placed internal walls fixed up into the battens will provide some… 2 5412 Thank you alexp79 and gommeqld for your advice, that's very helpful, thanks 3 7941 3 10212 |
