Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 Apr 25, 2012 10:23 pm Hi all Trying to pic our front facade colours for the new build. We have played with a few options so far which we've uploaded. Excuse the poor pics, they didn't scan and upload real well, the colours are a bit off, but I hope you get our ideas. The roof colour and windows are Dune. Planning to do the trim in Jasper (gutters, fascia, porch posts, front door) and wall render Paperbark ?. Been playing with mixes of these colours, changing garage door colours and possibly doing the garage wall fronts different as a feature.....any suggestions? Appreciate and ideas. IMO when the darkest colour ( in this case jasper) is used as a gutter AND fascia trim, it can make a house with a high roof pitch seem like it's "frowning" or has low frontage. So I would do the fascia in dune to tie in with the roof and keep it "smiling"! What direction is your house facing? Since direct sun lightens the appearance of colours they will appear lighter or darker depending on the aspect. Factor this in to your decision. For example, if you have a north facing house, a dune garage door will appear much lighter in summer. If it's south facing, the dune will appear darker than the dune on the roof. You get the idea. Our eyes are attracted to the lightest colour first. So with paperbark as render, your windows in dune will stand out. Nice. Then I think you would want your entrance to have most of the visual interest. So following this "rule" I would make the garage either the same colour as render, or darker (the jasper), rather than the lighter dune - so as not to draw attention away from the portico. So my take is either # 1 or 4, but with the fascia dune. Why don't you try gutter and fascia colours on the colourbond online visualiser? Even though monitor colours aren't exactly true to real colour, it can be quite helpful. But at the end of the day it's the combo you like best that matters. Re: Our facade colours - which do you like or any new ideas? 5Apr 28, 2012 9:42 pm Thanks Treeseachanger, Thanks for your input, great to hear some feedback . The front facade faces East, with living area facing North. Don't have long now to decide and still trying to make our mind up so any ideas welcomed. I have zero imagination BUT what I do have is technology on my side :p have you checked out Envisage? just pick a facade that is similar and select the colours you like and see what takes your fancy. I hope this helps, and let us know what you end up deciding on - GOOD LUCK! Re: Our facade colours - which do you like or any new ideas? 8May 05, 2012 9:18 am Hi delatite13 Great colour combo We also have Dune roof and Paperbark render. We have made our garage door the same colour as the render. All trim is in surfmist. As Treeseachanger pointed out, the colours vary alot throughout the day. I personally like a less "busy" look and would prefer to add interest through landscaping, so would probably chose facade 1. Good luck. Re: Our facade colours - which do you like or any new ideas? 9May 05, 2012 9:34 am Hopefully I've done this correctly - some pics to give you an idea of how it looks together. Just realised our gutters are also Dune. Notice how different it looks with the morning sun (also facing East) VS afternoon sun. Thanks for the pics and info on you colour choices kimu, your house looks really nice, , great seeing the Dune roof and Paperbark render combo on a real house It's all a big help in making the final colour decision. Went into Envisage and used it to show a rough idea of what we were thinking colour wise (not our actual fascade though, just a similar one to ours) For thermal efficiency having a light colours - roof - Dune. Render ? Paperbark. Just trying to sort out trim, render combos etc. Not sure if to go the dark panel door for contrast or go lighter - roof colour or render colour. Or do a feature render section instead? That's how Envisage shows it . Think we are heading there on the right track slowly. Thank you for your time. I'd get the gutters to match your roof and pipes to match the paint - otherwise they become a feature. Nice pick with the paint colours! 1 34269 We are building a second dwelling and are currently selecting window and door frames. I’m not sure what was removed, as it was done quite some time ago - well before what I can see with photos online… 2 11584 |
