Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 Mar 03, 2012 11:09 pm Our build is just about finished. We're having the exterior painted as part of the contract and have said we'll do the interior ourselves to save money. As the whole place is quite big and currently empty we've been advised to spray the ceiling and walls throughout and then do the walls by hand afterwards which sounds like a good plan. It's going to take a couple of days so hiring fees for a sprayer are going to be a few hundred so we've thought we might as well buy one, second hand prefferably and then sell it again afterwards and hopefully recoup most if not all of the cost. So for this reason, if buying one worth a thousand was going to still sell for a similar price a week later then that would be ok (and probably nicer to use), or a cheaper one would be fine too as long it's still semi-decent. But I can't see too many being advertised - even on ebay. So where should I look, and which are the better/most popular brands that are likely to sell well afterwards? We can borrow a compressor so air is fine, or airless if that is the way to go. Thanks for any tips. Re: Where to buy (and which) paint sprayer 2Mar 04, 2012 7:21 am When I did my research a couple of years ago I came to the conclusion that an airless sprayer would be the way to go, and I ended up purchasing an AA Spray Atomix (you can Google it to find the web site) which looked to be a good commercial quality sprayer. I went with this one because like you, my house is quite big and I'm doing a total renovation and didn't want to spend the rest of my life painting, and also I *believe* (from what I've been told) that spraying gives a more consistent result than rolling. Unfortunately I can't tell you how good it is because I haven't used mine yet, it's been sitting in its box waiting for me to complete the external work on my renovation before I start on the inside. It cost around $1000 though and I imagine if you were going to sell it second hand you'd at least get a few hundred for it, so if you're doing a lot of painting it would probably make sense to purchase as opposed to hire. Re: Where to buy (and which) paint sprayer 3Mar 22, 2012 7:34 pm Thanks for the reply. I ended up buying an Atomex HSP-10. It was about the same price as the Wallperfect W985e by the time U bought an extention and extra tip but (so I understand and hope!!) is far superior. Paid $400 and will hopefully get a bit back when we're ready to sell. Painting this weekend - fingers crossed it all goes well. But we've had other things come up in the meantime as well, so doing it in sections rather than all at once as we had planned. Quite happy with the sprayer - I have no experience with others to compare it with, but it's sturdy and well made not just plasticky and seems to be doing a great job. We're quite happy with the result. Looking at some of the designs on websites, they are all selling very similar products. I get that you want something stylish. It's worth looking for search terms like SaveH2O… 2 7006 Black on light wood does look good. Not sure if it will be as long lasting as a steel finish? 6 6352 brokers will also be in a position to get you a better rate than the advertised rate most times. 6 7575 |
