Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 Dec 22, 2011 11:36 am I posted this in my build thread, but thought I'd post it here as well for those interested in colours who might not be reading all the building threads. I went around to our house yesterday and the painters were in. We have however picked up something we overlooked in our colour schedule. The walls are going to be Hog Bristle ½, and we had the internal doors Hog Bristle ¼ - ie, slightly lighter than the walls. The skirtings & architraves are also Hog Bristle ¼. When we upgraded most of the doors (the ones facing any main areas) for some reason the colour has been listed as Hog Bristle full. We didn't notice this is our contract. So when I got there I was surprised to see how dark the internal access door from the garage was. Now I'm not sure whether to just leave them or repaint them. I didn't have my camera with me, so the photo is just from my iPhone. The walls have just the undercoat so will be slightly darker when finished. Maybe I need to wait till the walls are finished before deciding. What are your thoughts? Leave them darker than the walls? The front entry door is going to be linseed, which is light. You'll be able to see both looking down the entry hall to the front door. I know everyone does their doors lighter these days but years ago we used to do them darker. I don't mind it, looks OK to me. Maybe if you do a feature wall in full hog somewhere in the house it will help it all to blend in if your not happy with the look. As pp said I would wait till they are all done and see how it looks. We live in a pretty safe area and it’s great to see people walking to the front door. We’re not too fussed about people… 4 1384 Thanks. Yeh ideally that would have been good, but have progressed too far now. Hoping some well placed internal walls fixed up into the battens will provide some… 2 5416 Thank you alexp79 and gommeqld for your advice, that's very helpful, thanks 3 7945 |
