With nicotine/smoke damage there is a preparation product I would specify that is oil based, to which water or oil based paints can be applied. And what product would that would be please? I will be painting a fire damaged house and want to get the preparation right. I was under the impression that I could use any oil based paint/primer to seal it then paint with water based paint. I know when I painted over gloss paint I applied something first before painting the water based. Do I need to do that? or add something to the paint? Thanks. I'm about to put down some Merbau. Is it necessary to oil underneath the boards before laying? 0 1933 Hi, as per the subject.
