Depends bec if you want this feature to stand or not!
Some paint them, some don’t……when I do them, I do the ceiling part only in a feature colour, all the rest is painted the ceiling colour throughout the house.
BUT, this depends on the colour chosen or the look you want.

Just about to do one at the Hotel I’m doing…..in deep reed!
Did another one at my local hotel, many years ago, terracotta and mustard….looked pretty good actually!!!
