Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 Jul 09, 2011 10:15 pm Hi, Just found out I need to pick new bricks ASAP from Boral or PGH. I'd like to use Boral blue rio or PGH blue steel (or possibly a black or very dark brick) as a feature around the garage, but I have no idea for a main brick to match it for the rest of the house. I would love to render but budget doesn't allow, so all brick it is. I would have liked a lighter brick as I'm worried it will look too dark with the other colour selction, but a lighter brick may clash too much???? The roof tiles are flat dark grey Gutter facsia and window frames monument Garage door coaba dawn Front door and external timber merbu stain Any ideas and thoughts would be helpful thanks ***Building coral HERON (modified) in the beautiful NSW far north coast*** H1 Thread - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=48902 ****Help me!! Brick to match Boral Blue rio**** 2Jul 09, 2011 11:18 pm There is a house near us that is entirely Blue steel flash with an ironstone colourbond roof. It looks great and we would have done the same if our builder was using PGH. In the end we have gone with Boral mocha which has a lot more red in it, but blue steel flash was our first preference. Chatz Re: ****Help me!! Brick to match Boral Blue rio**** 3Jul 13, 2011 9:28 pm We have chosen PGH Blue Steel Flash and absolutely love it! We were going to use the Blue Rio until we saw two house built side by side using these bricks. The Blue Steel Flash brick colour looked very clean and consistent compared to the Blue Rio that seemed very patchy. The Blue Steel Flash also has a metallic finish that reflects beautiful in the sunlight. Depending on your taste, I would personally choose a main brick in either a brown tone or dark grey tone. We have the Blue Flash Steel as our main brick and Austral slim split face masonry brick in Bluestone (dark grey) as a feature brick. We have selected Monument fascia/gutters too! Re: ****Help me!! Brick to match Boral Blue rio**** 4Jul 15, 2011 5:10 pm Thank you for your responses. I love Blue steel flash but it was more expensive , and for the main brick I had to choose from Boral standard range so granite was the best choice not sure if it will go to well it's a lighter brown with a bit of grey tinge to it. We'll see fingers crossed. ***Building coral HERON (modified) in the beautiful NSW far north coast*** H1 Thread - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=48902 What about a dulux render colour to match blue rio bricks? 5Jul 18, 2011 5:48 pm Hi again, Now possibly deciding to render over main bricks.... I'm unsure as to what sort of colour would best match Boral Blue Rio bricks. Would a brown or grey suit best I was thinking something like puppy, or colourbond dune. Would anyone know what colour is used on the house in the Boral catalouge with blue rio bricks? Any suggestions would be much appreciated. ***Building coral HERON (modified) in the beautiful NSW far north coast*** H1 Thread - https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=48902 Re: What about a dulux render colour to match blue rio brick 6Aug 02, 2011 10:45 pm I am building a house using blue flash steel and render colour as a feature call Boulders Ridge (Taubmans colour). I would not choose Blue Rio if you can avoid this, as the brick is yellow underneath and when the bricks are cleaned they chip and you can see the yellow come through. Hi Alex, Thanks for the reply again. I had a chat with the builder, he said he will use primer, then hydrotec which comes with colour and sealer as well.
