Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 Jun 13, 2011 7:11 pm We're at cladding stage and I want to sort out my exterior colours before we talk to the painter.
Set colours are: Roof - Monument Bricks - Austral Metallix Bronze Windows - Silver TBC Front Door - ?Satin Black or Stained timber Garage Door - ?Timber Effect Weatherboard cladding - ?Surfmist had prev picked Self Destruct Driveway - ?To match monument I'd also like something to match inside. We're having Tasmanian Oak floors throughout the living areas, sandstone effect tiles through the bathrooms, laundry, front porch and rear lower alfresco, and sandstone retaining walls so I'd like something that works with these natural tones. I like the contrast of the first picture below, but the timber in the second picture gives it much more warmth. I've also put a pic of the current state of the house below and a mock up I did of the exterior, with some timber fences to give some colour. We have Self-Destruct render and I am really unhappy with how yellow it looks. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Weatherboard and garage door colour - something differen 3Jun 13, 2011 7:26 pm Yeah that's why I was reconsidering, I think the weatherboards need to be more grey to match the blacks of the roof and bricks, then use timber for colour. Same inside, something fairly light because the timber floors will give it colour. Re: Weatherboard and garage door colour - something differen 5Jun 14, 2011 8:10 am What about having a light grey tone for the cladding? Heifer Dulux - I think SuH has it on her exterior. Re: Weatherboard and garage door colour - something differen 6Jun 14, 2011 10:40 am I agree with Bel, I'd be looking at greys. Surfmist may be a bit stark when there is such a larger area of it. Some others colours (all Dulux) are Oyster Linen (one shade darker than White Duck), Tuft or Linseed. From what people have said on here, the colours tend to wash out to one or two shades lighter when used externally and in sunlight. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Don't ask!? Re: Weatherboard and garage door colour - something differen 9Jun 14, 2011 5:42 pm No problems Neil. It's hard to tell from the first picture as it looks like they have tried to do the picture at dusk. I did think it might be Dune (Colourbond colour). I think any of the colours above would be similar also. Let me see if I can find any renders in Dune.... viewtopic.php?f=31&t=45346&p=690858&hilit=+dune+render#p690858 Hmmm looks light Dune in full sun might be a bit lighter than your first picture. Still not in. Don't ask!? Re: Weatherboard and garage door colour - something differen 10Jun 15, 2011 1:27 pm neil_se Cheers for the suggestions. How dark/light shade do you think it would be to get a final result like the sample pictures I posted at top? I agree with Bel - something about the intensity of colorbond Dune would match with your pictures. Surfmist will look bright white in the sun. If you really aren't sure - get a sample pot of each one, and paint up on some cardboard. Leave it in the sun and you will see how much it washes out in full sun vs shade. If you have a sample of your bricks then you can also make sure you like them together Still not in. Don't ask!? Re: Weatherboard and garage door colour - something differen 13Jun 18, 2011 2:04 pm We are about to start work on our old brick and fibro house. We are rendering the brick in Dune and the weatherboard cladding is going to be a product called Duraplank in heather colour which is very similar to Dune. I'll post some pics when it starts in 3 weeks time! Re: Weatherboard and garage door colour - something differen 14Jul 19, 2011 8:12 pm Here's where we're up to at the moment. The bricks are more brown than I expected (but they do look darker in real life than the photos). I think with the expanse of weatherboard I'm inclined to go for a light brown rather than a grey. The Centre pillar one side sits proud to the other. Can I change 2 doors into one. Please see picture. 0 6353 2 5950 1 19742 |
