Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 May 31, 2011 8:21 pm Was hoping for some feedback and advice for our fireplace hearth. The fireplace will sit in the middle of a wall unit with shelves either side, and a caesarstone bench/hearth spanning the width of the room. The lounge area is part of a large open-plan section of the house also incorporating the dining area and kitchen. We're going with a very white theme: caesarstone "snow" benchtops and island bench top, and probably "Antique White USA" walls. We'll have a black mosaic splashback in the kitchen and a blackboard sliding door for the walk in pantry. All plans and pics of wall units similar to what we are doing can be found on my blog here: http://shakespearereno.wordpress.com/ Was planning on continuing the caesarstone "snow" for the fireplace hearth, but wonder if it will be too much white? (shelving will be a white laminate) Should I think about a contrasting stone colour instead? Re: Advice needed on hearth colour - too much white? 2May 31, 2011 8:59 pm do the white. I think it will look classier. also LESS DUST to look at it will be more beach house with the white, rather than concrete,' look what I made on the weekend,' type of thing if it was darker. I liked the pic on the right on your blog......just looks polished. go with your gut Re: Advice needed on hearth colour - too much white? 3Jun 10, 2011 10:12 am Thanks Kiwi - my gut is still undecided!!? Last week I had decided on the Snow caesarstone as hearth across the room, but just received some samples in the mail, and now think Raven might be the go. Just think it might balance out the black splashback on the other side of the room (in the kitchen)... though i still do love the cleanness of the Snow.... aaarrrgh!! Anybody else have an opinion... in the words of Michael Jackson "Black or White"?? Re: Advice needed on hearth colour - too much white? 4Jun 10, 2011 10:14 am White here as well. It's not like you won't have furniture or wall art to break it up.
