Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 May 29, 2011 12:18 pm Hi all, after 3 years of procrastination/house buying/house demolition/fighting with project builders/fighting with council I am finally entering the actual building phase (don't ever try to build big on a small block ). I ended up having my own design done and then shopped the plans around. Have now signed with Kerdels in Perth and presart booked for Tuesday . Floor plan: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The shaded area on the plan is the additional floor tiling being done by builder. I am supplying all the whitegoods and plumbing fixtures (been buying higher end stuff for 2 years now when bargains have presented). So far I have made the following selections: Brick: Austral collie. Roof: Bristile marsielle clay graphite. Gutter: Colorbond monument Fascia: Colorbond paperbark Downpipe: Colorbond paperbark Garage Door: Colorbond monument pressed panel. Window Frames: Charcoal lustre. Benchtops: Kitchen essatone new cairo, Ensuite and bathroom essastone porcini (undermount sinks), Laundry laminex squareform earthly. Cupboards (laminex): Kitchen divine oak U/B and oyster linea O/H, Ensuite lustrous elm, Bathroom and Laundry mushroom linea. Tiles (ceramic): Main floor - pietra scicilia cream 450 x 450. Ensuite - Floor enviro platinum (light stone pattern look) 330 x 330, Wall agatha white wall 200 x 400. Bathroom/Powder/Laundry - Floor black (medium stone pattern look) 300 x 300, Wall enviro plus neutral (white) 200 x 400. I have yet to pick the following and could use a little advice : 1. Internal door frame colour. 2. Internal door colour. 3. External door colour. 4. External door frame colour. Paint selections must be made from solver range. I am thinking of painting the internal walls either hogs bristle (quarter or half) or solver smoke pearl, also will have a feature wall in theatre and living room in a darker colour such as solver steel dust. cheers Re: Colour Selection Help Needed 2May 29, 2011 12:33 pm We are doing our front door and frame the same as our garage. You could do that too since you have such a light coloured brick. Internal doors and frames we are doing the same as our architraves and skirting which is the same as our wall colour. Some do 1/2 strength or even go 1/4 strength. We went the same strength to keep everything light, airy and seamless. We don't want to make them a feature as there are other elements of the house that we want to stand out. We thought the fact that they are in gloss as apposed to a flat paint was enough of a difference in appearence. So it really depends on what sort of look you are going for inside. Re: Colour Selection Help Needed 3May 31, 2011 2:29 am Thanks Kayles, I think I will go for full strength hogs bristle on the walls so that I can use solver tulip white in gloss on the door frames and in semi gloss on the doors. I have decided to ugrade the garage door to caobo and do a dark stain to the front door and frame, looks like it won't cost too much (so much for not spending at prestart). I am now debating my kitchen laminate selections. I am thinking of either going all oyster linea or oyster linea for the overheads, but using mushroom linea for the underbench cupboards and also the wall oven stack. Could this also be done the other way round for the wall oven stack and do it in oyster linea, which way would look better? Re: Colour Selection Help Needed 4May 31, 2011 5:03 pm Hi have you tried the Laminex Designer 3D software. I found it helpful for visualising what my selections would look like all together. Your choice will also depend on what colour your benchtop, splashback and floors will be. Kayles Hi there, we have classic cream gutters, fasciaโs, roller door and undercover carport.
