Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 Mar 17, 2011 4:31 pm Hi there all. This is just itching me at the moment. Our front door handle has been installed, but we think its in the wrong place. We mentioned it to our SS who then tried to tell me there was nothing wrong with it and he wont change it unless we can prove its wrong We think that it should actually be above the lock on the right. Its just so wrong over the glass handles. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ So please give me your opinion as I need back up.lol Has anyone else got this set up or alike? Please show me. Thanks in advance. The panes of glass have to remain apart from the handle and lock otherwise it's just aesthetically painful. If you put "madison door" into your favourite search engine under images you will find your proof. Re: HELP... schlarge corfu entrance handle and madison door. 3Mar 17, 2011 4:56 pm Thanks for your agreeance. Ive done the search but my SS doesnt care whats on the internet, he wants real proof. I think he is old fashioned. I just need to have a case to put up to him. Its our door, we paid the upgrades, do it the way we want.......NOPE. Maybe for safety reasons it should be located with all wood behind it. Imagine if you grabbed it at the wrong angle and broke the glass. A balanced diet is chocolate in both hands. If that door didn't have glass inserts I will say that it would be aesthetically ok... but not like that... Ask him to give you the addresses of the places he installed that type of handle on the same type of door before... When you have an SS asking you to prove what's wrong with their * work reverse the question on them... ask them to prove to you that they are right - you are the owner so you are entitled to an answer. Just because he is a SS doesn't mean he is always right. As you said, you have paid for the upgrade, so you should be the one getting the royal treatment, and not cope the b'$hit from SS. I remember my builder wanted to charge me $390 if I wanted that handle. Thats a lot of money you paid for the upgrade. Re: HELP... schlarge corfu entrance handle and madison door. 8Mar 25, 2011 10:28 am Thanks guys for your support. Has now been worked out. I have been told that the stuff up was because when we did our colour selection, it was back in Jan 2010. They didnt realise the problem with our door, our handle and our frames until 8 months ago. they stopped offering that combination beacause there were so many complaints. What the problem is, is our house has aluminuim frames so the lock is in a premade standard possition. So that means the lock has to go in a certain spot, that then means that the handle would be too high ontop so they move it to the side. But it looks horrible over the panels. If it was a timber frame, they could of lowered the possition of the lock so that the handle would be a perfect height above it. I have been given the chioce to keep it where it is or change it. I know its gonna look too high but I cant stand it where it is now. Plus with 4 kids, Im worried they will bust the glass reaching for the handle. Here is what it looks like now (as seen before) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And with the help of paint shop, est of what it will look like moved. What do you think??????? Where did you find this from..your SS or a door company? Did you check the Corinthian Doors website?? They have got some nice ideas of doors with similar handles. The other option you might have is to go for a smaller handle to put above the lock. Good luck !! Re: HELP... schlarge corfu entrance handle and madison door. 11Mar 25, 2011 11:08 am That's much better and doesn't look out of place now. Good news after all that angst!!
