Anyway, isn't your builder doing all your painting? If not .... you normally put matt ceiling paint on ceilings. Colour - whichever you want. Walls - I personally prefer "low sheen" paint for walls. All these paints are normally water based. Trims - I always use (highest available) gloss in water based paint. I think it's - glossy ! It is advisable to use glossy paint on trims, doors etc. anyway because the glossier the paint, the better is withstands all the little bumps and kicks. You don't really want to use semi gloss or low gloss on trims for this particular reason. My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Re: satin/matt/ gloss/flat which paint where? 3Feb 11, 2011 5:35 am thanks Lex, thorndon cream is like hogs bristle. I didnt want oil enamel on the trims as there is a thread about white oil based paints turning yellow...so acrylic gloss it will be on the doors and trims and skirtings and low sheen on the walls. yep, painter is doing it, but he asked me what I wanted...eeek, I dont know, whatever is best. Hence knowing you guys would know what was best! thanks very much Re: satin/matt/ gloss/flat which paint where? 4Feb 11, 2011 7:03 am Cheers kiwi. My point was, for trims, if you are having a colour that is already creamy, you may not notice the yellowing of oil paint that much (if anything!). So if you want oil paint for trims, I think you could still use it - providing the colour is off white / creamy. My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ...
