Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 Feb 06, 2011 7:03 pm I'm new to this forum, and although I know that this question has been asked and answered hundreds of times before... I'm going to ask it again anyway. My unit is being completely re-painted white next week to freshen it up before it goes on the market in March. It's currently a horrible creamy colour, and it's definitely in need a fresh coat of paint or two! I love cool whites (vivid white would probably be my first choice). But I'm painting my unit to sell, not live in. However, my preference is still to chose the 'whitest white' possible that complements the existing colour schemes. The main problem is my kitchen - it's cream, and that won't be changing. The cupboards are already against a new gloss white tile splashback. And the knobs and appliances are also new (stainless steel). I'd post a picture, but I'm not sure how. My current flooring is laminate (which has a red-ish tinge), and the carpet in the bedrooms is a mocha colour. The curtains in the unit are green (I think the colour is called 'sage'). And the window and door frames are also a cream colour. So with this in mind, I'm thinking that 'vivid white' isn't my best option. I also like 'white on white', but I'm concerned that this might be too stark against the cream kitchen cupboards? Or could it work? The other white I'm currently considering is 'natural white' (can you get it in 1/4 or 1/2 strength?). What do people think of this colour? And would it complement the existing colour scheme of my unit? Or would a shade of Lexicon work? My unit is fairly sunny - particularly the north-facing end. I'm not a fan of Antique White USA, or any of the pink/creamy whites. Thanks for your help and patience. Re: Which white? 2Feb 06, 2011 10:01 pm Hi AnnaS I would go with the Natural White at 25% Still very light and would be good with the kitchen cupboards and red floor. And another benefit of using some colour over vivid white is it will cover your existing cream colour easier. At times it is difficult to get good coverage with vivid white over any deep existing colour even with 2 coats. Good luck with the sale.
