Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 Dec 10, 2007 12:23 am i've seen several places say painting tiles is possible, and others saying not to even bother. What results have you had? I was looking and painting the spashback kitchen tiles to a nice glossy black. Have seen te white grout paint pen, and am worried about being able to do straight lines with it too.
Also i've read not to paint tiles that are regularly wet, like shower recesses, tiled baths etc. We have a tiled (roman?) bath, and White Knight Tile Paint claims to be suitable for that, but i'm not sure effective that would be. Re: painting tiles 2Dec 10, 2007 2:19 am not worth the hassel, you can re-tile the wall yourself its not that hard, and if cost is an issuse you can always pick up tiles from tile outlet places, anywhere from 5 - 20 a metre. I have tiled myself and it is easy, and i don't have the monst handy hands Building again . . with Redink Pre-start 04/12 Keys - 03/13 Finishing off. . . It was really easy to use and looks so much better. The paint hasn't marked at all and has a nice sheen to it. I don't think anyone could tell that the tiles are painted.
The tile paint can go over the grout as well (if you are happy to have the grout the same colour as the tiles). Wouldn't recommend having a different colour grout as it would be far too fiddly. Re: painting tiles 4Dec 10, 2007 1:02 pm yeh i was thinking of retiling it, but the problem is the sink splashback tiles are on plastered wall, no probs there, but behind the hotplates they are stuck to exposed brick, which has been painted bright white around them and is a large wall on one side of the kitchen. Its yuck lol we're going to paint the bricks a dark red colour, but i was worried about ripping the tiles off and losing part of the bricks with them, as they would be hard too chisel off. I think the glossy black tile would match the dark red wall better, the current tles are 80's brown shades. You can buy a “TEXTURE PEN” that you use to colour the grout! It’s a special one for that purpose! elly.....The tile paint is ok…….a good remedy for a short term resolve.
