Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 Oct 15, 2010 2:59 pm Hi there. I have my colour appointment with Co$mo in a few weeks and have just received the colour folder. I have no idea where to start. Is there a thread with tips to help the clueless to be prepared for the meeting and/or what to expect? I spoke to the colour consultant yesterday and she said I don't need to see tile/carpet info before our meeting cos we'll be fine just to pick something on the spot. So wondering what else I might have to choose on the spot that I have no idea about either. Do you have a particular colour scheme that you like i.e browns and neutrals, white and greys, other colours that may appeal to you? What we did was go through magazines and also we collected about 15 different builders brochures and we made a scrapbook of all of the photos of rooms and/or colours that we liked - we then took that to the colour selections and were able to chose the same if not similar colours to those in the photos. There is also the interior decorating lounge thread that heaps of people would be willing o help you if you created a post in there! Good luck with your selections! And remember to take photos of them!!! Sleven Moved into our Atlantique MkII 36 by Carlisle Homes Re: Colour appointment for dummies? 3Oct 15, 2010 9:54 pm Hi, It is difficult. The first time I built we had no idea and to be honest didnt do much research. We simply looked at the standard bricks that were available to us in the catalogue and did a drive around some new estates to look at the combinations that we wanted to try and pick something close. Before we went to colour choices we knew we wanted a grey floor tile, and predominantly white tiles in the bathroom. The rest we just picked when we got there, and to be honest have only regretted one of our choices (why did I decide to go for such a light coloured carpet ). This time I have been to look at Beaumont tiles etc to get more of an idea of exactly what I want. Particularly with feature tiles in bathrooms the colour selection centre may not have the full range. Have a look at the Big M website with studiom. It is a great tool where they have photos of the different rooms in their display homes so you can see the colour combinations used. They also have the envisage software so you can play around with colour choices and check out combinations of tiles, carpet, cabinet colours, benchtops, wall paint etc. You can also check out local display homes and see what colours they have used and try to replicate. Good luck! You should have the opportunity to see what's available before you have to choose. Picking "on the spot" is a BAD idea. Start by collecting some pictures of interiors you like and then narrow it down to a broad colour scheme (eg browns, greys, whites....whatever). Find out what brand of paint they use, which bricks are in their standard range etc and get hold of some brochures so you can at least pick the main items before you turn up to your appointment. If you have wall and trim colours chosen, plus a rough idea of your overall scheme, it will be much easier to pick tiles and cabinet/colours and so on. Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7158 Hi - thanks for your reply.
