Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 Oct 13, 2010 9:26 pm I received the following quote for painting a 3 X 2 bedroom house, Perth $3600 including materials, labor and 3 feature walls Tiles 600 X 600 Porcelain polished for $50 sqm and laying cost of $50 sqm for 45 sq m rooms Carpet........yet to shop Re: How Much??????? Quote your Painting / Tiling / Carpet 2Oct 14, 2010 7:34 am Not sure what you mean by 3x2 bedroom house but painting you should cost at about $300 - $350 per day labor. Materials should not be much more than the cost of paint and a few incidentals. If there is not much detail work and no preparation required, a good painter should be able to finish the equivalent of a room in a day. Tiling cost, I paid about $50 per hour labor. Ask you tiler how long the job will take and work back from there. Re: How Much??????? Quote your Painting / Tiling / Carpet 3Oct 14, 2010 1:49 pm If we're just meant to quote what we paid; this is mine: Paint - unsure, came with the house Carpet: gold underlay and thick wool $2200 (friend of a friend ) Tiles: $5200 for Porcelain tiles, and all the installation for a 57sm area they were $6000 but I talked the sales man down a bit. Re: How Much??????? Quote your Painting / Tiling / Carpet 5Oct 14, 2010 6:39 pm I got ~140sqm of 600x600 porcelain tiles supplied and layed for about $45/sqm (all the bedrooms and living areas). Took them 2.5 days. As for painting, I am lucky enough to have a friend who is a painter and she does my work for me as long as I provide the paint and buy any new brushes/rollers she needs and supply a carton of Smirnoffs for her and a carton of beer for her offsider (hubbie - he patches the holes and sands!). Carpet - I avoid it with hayfever and allergies so none in my current house. Still debating what to do in the new place...... Re: How Much??????? I've built up quite a contact base through my years in the commercial building industry. Unless you know a wholesale tile supplier who can also organise a team of layers for you, then you wont be able to match my price. But $90/sqm is not a bad price for someone "off the street" given its probably a 50-50 split in supply-install. Re: How Much??????? If we could get painting in Melb anywhere near as cheap as that we'd never have painted our own house. Materials alone were a couple of grand. Tiles (stone): $70 sqm Laying: $80 sqm (plus sealing) Carpet (4 bedrooms): $6270 Re: How Much??????? So there you go, if you have time and little bit of effort you can get cheaper prices. I'll update when the painter sends me the detail quote by Tuesday. Re: How Much??????? Paint and materials are from Bunnings and Yes it took two week for them to paint as they were learning as they were painting. Re: How Much??????? Quote your Painting / Tiling / Carpet 14Nov 09, 2010 6:26 pm 240 sq m house Painting - friend of a friend (painter) got me the paint for approx $800. Bought brushes, rollars etc and DIY it myself for nothing. Carpet - I think total was approx $3000-$4000 (it was 11 months ago so can't remember off the top of my head) for 3 minor bedrooms, and a decent sized master bedroom (incl walk in robes). Underlay and laying was incl in the carpet's price. End of a roll of great quality stuff for master room, decent stuff for minor bedrooms and upgraded underlay. Tiles for rest of house (excl wet areas as was incl with house) - ceramic $4000 incl delivery, adhesive and grout. Laid: nothing as DIY job from dad (who is not a professional tiler but does have some experience with it, and required tools borrowed from a friend). Cheapest tiler my neighbour could find was $45 a sq m and this was for standard ceramic tiles. Built with RedInk Custom 5000 Key Handover 15/12/2009 Re: How Much???????
