Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 Sep 30, 2010 9:35 pm Hi there - desperately seeking: 1) Address of a house I can drive-by to see Sorbetto brick (either Ryde or Abbotsbury areas). Please PM me. 2) Any other H1ers who may have used either PGH Sorbetto or Boral Sirius Cove bricks in combination with Woodlands Grey windows / roof etc.??????? We are finding it *extremely* difficult to decide on external colours and bricks (read: I am finding it difficult; DH doesn't care much for colours . PGH Cement is the other one short listed, and I have seen that in combination with Woodlands Grey, but would love to find anyone who has used Woodlands Grey with Sorbetto and / or Sirius Cove. Very nervous choosing without seeing the combination ... Also - PGH have now changed their policy and don't give out addresses of people who have built with Sorbetto (I rang them today). But if anyone knows of a house, please PM me (I will be very discrete in my drive-by...). Again, very nervous choosing without seeing in real life... THANK YOU in advance!! (I hope people post replies... I was a little nervous setting up a new thread, but some other H1ers suggested it might be helpful... fingers crossed! Any suggestions welcome...) Espresso is just painted on looks good though with woodland grey. You may just have to go with Sorbetto brick and woodland grey(I'm guessing Sorbetto is a grey brick) so the combination should look good together. Anyway I just didn't want you to feel alone on this thread Re: Colours: Sorbetto/Sirius Cove with Woodlands Grey & driv 3Oct 01, 2010 9:03 am brb_654 I Anyway I just didn't want you to feel alone on this thread Thanks Barb. I feel better already... Will wait and see if anyone else has any thoughts / experience with these colours... Really wish I could find a Sorbetto house to drive by this weekend as we are going out to Schofields. I am going to look at Espresso while out there too... I have just finished "colouring in" our facade elevation with our PGH Oyster brickers against Woodland Grey window trim, gutters, etc. Our bricks are like Barbs', just "painted on" colour, not all the way through. Anyhow, I know a Sorbetto house on the forum ~ it's netadelle's, and she's just put up some fantastic pics of her front landscaping and her facade http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=26520&hilit=sorbetto&start=340. Looks amazing. I don't thing her trims are Woodland Grey though? netadelle I love Sorbetto too, if I had to pick a "backup" brick in case of any supply problems with the Oyster, then Sorbetto is most likely it. (But what about Barbs' Espresso? and the Vino is amazing too... too hard to decide the first time!) Unfortunately I think netadelle is in Adelaide, so might be a bit of a long drive... We ended up with Monument gutters and surfmist faschia/down pipes, windows, garage door and front door- with off white mortar. Our next door neighbour who is also using sorbetto has used a bluey grey gutter with dune gutters and gargage door. Hard decision but I think Sorbetto goes with a range of things! Good luck Built our Granton in 2010 Handover December 3rd- wooohooo! Now the hard work has began.... Retaining walls and landscaping Re: Colours: Sorbetto/Sirius Cove with Woodlands Grey & driv 6Oct 02, 2010 4:16 pm Hey T, I really like the look of Sorbetto on Netadelle's house. I didn't know what that brick looked like before. I think it might be monument on her house. . .nice combination. We have Ironstone/dune for gutters & fascia & that also goes well with a grey brick. Did you ask your builder if they were building any houses with those bricks? Hope you find a house to driveby. I'm gathering you have played with this on PGH's site? http://www.pghbricks.com.au/AllAboutCol ... fault.aspx "Colour click interactive". Looks like PGH suggest Dune for Sorbetto bricks? Have you had a look at that combo? I would be careful with Woodland grey and grey bricks as danniellec mentioned - it can look a little green. Such a hard choice isn't it! Best of luck Bel Still not in. Don't ask!? Re: Colours: Sorbetto/Sirius Cove with Woodlands Grey & driv 8Oct 02, 2010 5:27 pm Thank you so much everyone for your ideas / support. (I also don't feel quite so nervous about starting a new thread either now ) Bel - I hadn't seen that link on PGH before so thank you! I will try it out now. You are right about being careful with Woodlands Grey. Which is why I am so nervous without looking at the combinations. I just love Barb's house (Woodlands Grey with Espresso), but DH is not keen on dark bricks... Loretta - thanks. Masterton have a house at Warwick Farm with Sorbetto (but unfortunately we are a long way from Warwick Farm and only have time to visit Schofields via Abbotsbury tomorrow where there is a Sirius Cove house - we have family visiting this weekend). But if I can't find any soon I might try to organise a drive out to Warwick Farm ... Daniellec - Hello! Thanks for your post. So you like your Sorbetto bricks??? I have seen you on a few other posts... Do you have your own thread or any photos of your house? We are really keen on Woodlands Grey (we live in a bushland area so the green grey will blend well) but still nervous about combinations ... You don't live near Ryde or on the way to PGH Schofields by any chance do you??? Especially seeing as you AND your neighbour have Sorbetto... Vanilla Tree - thank you so VERY much for posting that photo!! Very kind. Netadelle's house looks beautiful. I found her thread a little while ago too but didn't see this latest photo. Adelaide is a bit far ... Funny, I was hoping to drive by Barb's place too till I found out she is in Victoria SunshineT's Build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=34585 Designs start: 4/12/09 DA: 5/7/11 Demo: 22/12/11 Slab: 24/2/12 Keys: 31/8/12 Re: Colours: Sorbetto/Sirius Cove with Woodlands Grey & driv 10Oct 03, 2010 12:39 am I love my sorbetto bricks. They cost me a fortune as an extra though, because they come out of NSW. We where going to have monument as the trim and downpipes etc but when the painter started painting everything was purple! He had apparantly picked up the wrong tin from the paint distributer, he was adament it was momument and I was adament it wasn't! He said he could do us a deal and paint it all black if we wanted, so we agreed and he painted it all black. Looking back on it now we where so stressed and keen to get in to the house we should have just let him paint it all purple then go to the SS and make them repaint it all. The painter later told me he took the paint back to the place he got it from and they said that it wasn't monument it was lilac and they gave him his money back!! The sorbetto brick is beautiful! It does take on the colour of what you match it with, so if you put it near a blue wall it tends to look blue. I've just gone all through my computer and I don't have that photo of the Stirling display home with the sorbetto bricks any more sorry. edit. Found it on there website Re: Colours: Sorbetto/Sirius Cove with Woodlands Grey & driv 11Oct 03, 2010 11:42 am Thanks so much guys! Very excited to hear from buzz and see the photos of the actual combination - looks terrific. Thanks again buzz. And for the address BZMZ. And the reassurance netadelle plus your PMs / pics. DH particularly liked the pic with the natural grey mortar, so he is coming around to Sorbetto now too. Thanks to all your photos! OK, I am feeling much more confident now about colour choices. (And feeling fine that I set up this thread despite my initial nerves...). Its drizzling outside but about to jump in car with sister and go out to Schofields to pick up some Sorbetto samples / drive by. Fingers crossed I can make the decision today....!!! I've just updated my thread, but here is essentially what happened: ... we went out to Schofields on the weekend. It was so good to see the bricks on display after all my researching on the net and dilemmas. I really liked Sorbetto, even though DH and my sister preferred Cement. Then, the decision was made by unexpected factors. I was sitting down with a consultant with both colour bricks and Woodlands Grey samples and I said, "so, they are both OK to use Moroka on?". And she said, "oh no, you can't Moroka on bricks that already have slurry, such as Sorbetto. It has a higher flake and wear factor". So then and there Cement it was. I am still a little sad about Sorbetto, but seeing as we are doing Moroka on half the walls I went with practicality... I will post my final DA plans on my thread very soon, which shows more clearly which walls are brick and Moroka. buzz / netadelle - I was just about set on Sorbetto, especially after seeing the photos you kindly showed me, THANK YOU. But I hadn't factored in the Moroka process... so there goes my dream of lovely greys, but I hope the colour combination we now have will still be OK. (I will post photos of colour choices soon, but essentially: PGH Cement brick, Woodlands Grey all metal work, Bearsfoot Moroka and Caoba Dawn garage plus timber door / screens). Such a nerve wracking process!!! Finding it hard to quite let go of Sorbetto, so I included that brick in there with the other colour selections just in case I think the Sorbetto goes well with the Caoba Dawn and Woodlands Grey too... sigh...
