Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 Apr 13, 2010 7:18 am In our previous home we had eco blinds throughout our whole house. Hubby wants to go with curtains in the place we are now building. But what do we do with the bathrooms and laundry windows? Looking for some inspiration from others...help! Painting finished, time to tile! HANDOVER - THURSDAY 3RD MARCH 2011 Re: Window Coverings for Bathrooms and Laundry 2Apr 13, 2010 8:08 am I have nothing to inspire you with Rebecca but I think BLINDS would be the cleanest option for laundry & bathrooms Not sure what else is out there but will watch this space with interest for other comments Jazz Life is like a lolly, suck it and see Re: Window Coverings for Bathrooms and Laundry 3Apr 13, 2010 8:10 am We have white frosted glass in bathrooms and laundry, no window coverings but it depends on the look you like. If you are having curtains throughout the house Roman Blinds would be nice. Re: Window Coverings for Bathrooms and Laundry 4Apr 13, 2010 8:43 am you can have blinds (not just romans) or curtains, it depends on the size of your bathroom and location of window(s). Window treatment should be hung away from the taps to avoid splashing and use minimal fabrics (that is why roman blind is a popular choice) unless the bathroom is large. Just because you have one style of window treatment in one room does not mean it has to be the same every where else - it can be careful planned for a cohesive look inside and out Re: Window Coverings for Bathrooms and Laundry 5Apr 13, 2010 10:38 am We have ecowood timber-look venetians in the ensuites - as they form part of the facade. In our laundry we have gone with a roller blind as it matches the back of the house's remaining windows. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Window Coverings for Bathrooms and Laundry 6Apr 22, 2010 11:22 am We have chosen to go with translucent glass for the bathroom and toilet windows. I hope it provides adequate privacy as I do not intend on having any window coverings in these areas of the house. How do you find your frosted glass Suh? Re: Window Coverings for Bathrooms and Laundry 7Apr 22, 2010 11:46 am I think that it depends on the look of your bathroom as well-we had ecowood (white) blinds in our last bathroom which was a classic white with black floor tile. This time we are having Romans made out of a "woven"look fabric to add to the resort feel I'm aiming for....I dont like curtains in a bathroom at all-but that's just my opinion! I can't see a thing from my side hsh not sure what they can see from the other side.... maybe I should check tonight I'm sure if I got close enough to the glass at night you would see something but from a distance I can't see anything through the glass at all. Re: Window Coverings for Bathrooms and Laundry 9Apr 22, 2010 12:56 pm For the wet areas we have gone with a block out blind. They are all block out in the bathroom even where we have used frosted glass. We were going to go with translucent blinds in some areas and the 'blind' lady said from the outside you can still see shadows if the light is on...watching you undress?? My neighbours at the back have chosen to use the (left one) Cathedral translucent glass only on their ensuite, main bathroom and toilet windows. When dining on the back deck at night we have a lovely view of mountain ranges, city lights and ab-so-lutley eeeeeverything that goes on in their ensuite, main bathroom and toilet. (note to self....never locate a toilet right next to a floor to ceiling translucent window and buy the neighbours some bigger towels) Re: Window Coverings for Bathrooms and Laundry 13Apr 22, 2010 10:00 pm misskittyfantastico My neighbours at the back have chosen to use the (left one) Cathedral translucent glass only on their ensuite, main bathroom and toilet windows. I wonder if they know that we've all seen them naked?
