Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 Mar 15, 2010 10:16 am Another post from me seeking advice. We are getting ready to sell our home. I would like to place a rug under the dining room table to create a bit of defination in a very open space (and TBH cover up a few scratches) A cheap rug as it probably wont go into the next place but something that will look effective. Here is a pic of my room. I think something light as the floorboards and wood are dark. Is a pattern a mistake? http://i604.photobucket.com/albums/tt12 ... PICS 2Mar 16, 2010 4:39 pm shag pile all white (no pattern)or something with the green from the pictures in.. pattern is fine. you could get some carpet hemmed. I think that can be cheaper than a rug, ($15 a mt?) esp if you are going to leave it with the house/ use it in the garage later/ put it in the dog kennel etc (although I would put the shag pile fluffy white one into the new house!) nic Re: Need a rug for under my dining room table. PICS 3Mar 26, 2010 6:40 pm Penny, Rather than buying a rug for a home you're going to sell. Have you considered getting one of those crayons from a hardware store that is used for scratches in stained timber? I'm not sure I'd bother buying the rug. The less you have in your house, the more potential buyers can imagine their own furniture. Just my 2 bobs worth... Re: Need a rug for under my dining room table. I think it would look better with a rug, not patterned. With the carpet hemming, they can put a black fabric border on it (about 10cm) which looks really nice, and you can get the exact size you need for the dining table. PICS 7Mar 27, 2010 9:56 am A shag pile rug?.............DEFINITELY NOT! It would be a disaster. Most probably best to have a piece of carpet cut to the suitable size & shape and overlocked. You could see a wide range, and choose a colour and shade to suit and complement your home. With those chairs, you should avoid anything to deep and plush, as they will dig in and be a right PITA to move. Low profile, dense pile carpet is best. That's one reason a shag pile would not be suitable (among many). Ash. Re: Need a rug for under my dining room table. PICS 8Mar 27, 2010 7:16 pm shag baby...all the way! nice and deep and fluffy. it isnt like you are going to use it much...it is for staging you are going to sell so it is purely decorative.. will look like a sheep dog hiding under the table! (roll it out for open homes only if you are going to have trouble pulling out the chairs!) Re: Need a rug for under my dining room table. PICS 9Apr 02, 2010 9:43 am Thanks everyone In the end I wanted a square rug which was nigh on impossible to find. I went and found a good quality plush remainder piece in a non - offensive beige colour. I pick it up tue it is 2.3 x 2.3 it is 80/20 plush. $140 all up and we will only roll it out for inspections so I am not too worried about the chairs on it. I will on sell on Ebay afterwards. Personally I would have preferred without the rug but the light shines right on that patch of floor and I want to disguse any marks, they arent too bad but obviously I want it as perfect as possible Thanks again Did you know that you can get rugs made from carpet? So much cheaper than buying a shop rug. So many styles to choose from, but you won't get the highly patterned… 0 6272 Hi, Really struggling to find some consistency amongst Span Tables, can anyone help… 0 2664 Can anyone suggest a house layout where the kitchen-dining - living runs the length across the rear of the house left to right where our best view will be we… 0 4348 |
