Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 Feb 17, 2010 6:25 pm I want to get a new dining table centrepiece and I'm wondering what everyone else has got on theirs? I'm looking for something fairly modern and preferably not floral. Any ideas? and pics of your table would be good too Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. Re: What do you have as a table centrepiece? 2Feb 17, 2010 6:51 pm Mine isn't very exciting, usually I have a tall glass vase and fill it with lemons! We have a very productive lemon tree. Re: What do you have as a table centrepiece? 3Feb 17, 2010 10:04 pm I had though about some fruit in a nice bowl. Anyone else? Re: What do you have as a table centrepiece? 6Feb 17, 2010 10:31 pm We used to have a big bowl of fruit but lately the centre piece has instead been DS2's drawing book and textas! I saw these oval wooden baskets (sorry about my description!) about 50-60cm long and it basically looks like the hull of a viking boat. I was thinking of getting one for our buffet, cutting off the handle maybe and putting an orchid and some other small ferns in it. But you could fill it with anything- lemons, those decorative balls etc. I wish I took a photo. And now I'm slightly embarrassed and thinking I shouldn't have made this post because everyone will be thinking, 'what the hell is she on about?!' Re: What do you have as a table centrepiece? 11Feb 19, 2010 11:13 am I ended up going to Spotlight (I have to get my teeth fixed next week so money is a little tight right now ) and I got a table runner plus 2 matching mats (for the buffet and coffee table). I also got a dark red bowl for the table which I have filled it with artificial fruit (but it looks real). I am happy with that for now. Re: What do you have as a table centrepiece? 12Feb 19, 2010 2:20 pm I normally have a tall skinny vase, with a couple of oriental lilly stems in it from coles. They last about 2 weeks, and they have a lovely perfume that fills the living area. They haven't had such nice ones lately, so it has just been my fruit bowl made from a wine barrel Re: What do you have as a table centrepiece? 13Feb 19, 2010 5:18 pm Hels I ended up going to Spotlight (I have to get my teeth fixed next week so money is a little tight right now ) and I got a table runner plus 2 matching mats (for the buffet and coffee table). I found myself scrolling between your 2 pics in amazement at how a small splash of colour can make such a dramatic difference. But I guess I'm biased. It seems the only colour apart from neutrals that we're totally comfortable with is red. But we find blues, greens and other colours OK in artworks, so I guess one answer for us is to get the colour interest in that way. Or stick to our neutral + red palette......certainly works well in your room.
