Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 Jan 26, 2010 2:34 pm Hi Everyone, I am painting my home in the next few days and would love to get some advise on paint colors. I swung by the paint shop today and picked up the following colors: - Dulux for the base: Mudskipper (looked too purple) - Dulux for the base: Bed Box (also looked a little purple) - Dulux for the trim: Buff It / half strength...looked very stark against the above two colors. I am looking for a reasonably pale taupe / natural base with a lighter (not stark white ) trim. I am at a loss as every color I try looks completely different on the front of the house, which leaves to me post on this forum hoping someone could show me some pics or help with color schemes. I have tried to dulux / haymes website....not that helpful. I have posted a pic of the house - I would love to hear anyone's suggestions!. Actually I cant post - its says 'the board attachment quota has been reached' ?? I really like these colors - does anyone know what they would be ?? http://www.realestate.com.au/cgi-bin/rs ... 1264480677 Thanks for looking! I ended up choosing Hogs Bristle which is a beautiful cream colour that a painter chose for us - I absolutely love it - goes better with colours of my fence so really happy with it. good luck Jazzie Life is like a lolly, suck it and see Re: Any suggestions for external paint - federation style home? 4Jan 26, 2010 5:10 pm HI Jazzie, Thanks so much for the help...what type of paint is weathered stone? I just decided on Hogs bristle for my bedroom - half strength. What did you use as a trim? I too am a local....about to go out for a walk with my dog to look at that very house in the real estate link. I feel bad knocking on the door asking which paint they used... Re: Any suggestions for external paint - federation style home? 5Jan 26, 2010 8:20 pm Hi Nat I live in Williamstown - rebuilding most of our home I'm not sure of the trim for the Hogs Bristle yet - thinking about a 'nearly' white colour as I would like to get white plantation blinds for bedroom windows Girl at work told me about the Weathered Stone - she knew exactly what I meant when I described it then the painter confirmed my doubts about it going with our fence which we didn't want to paint etc we're rapt in it tho! I think Taubmans make Weathered Stone. I bought a sample pot from Paint Spot, Buckley St Footscray altho they had trouble finding a colour chart with it - think they can match it on the computer tho. Let me know how you go - I could try to find the sample pot somewhere amongst our 'bomb site' for you if you can't get it Jazz ps: I would definately go & ask for their colour - no biggie, just do it, save you losing sleep Life is like a lolly, suck it and see The Dulux colour consultants are awesome.
