Browse Forums Finishing Touch Re: Too many whites! 8Feb 23, 2010 7:34 pm I feel your pain.. Were in same situation, I want white walls but our apartment is north east facing and has lots of windows... I worried we'll need ski googles just to get through the morning. I didn't realise it was going to be so difficult!! Re: Too many whites! 9Feb 24, 2010 1:24 pm vivid white (which is no tinters) isnt over bearing at all, be warned though, enamal yellows and if your home is vivid white in six months time you'll have vivid white walls with slightly yellow trims. If you like white and are worried about glare... Choose Vivid White - Matt Finish for walls Vivid White - Semi-gloss Aqua-namal for trims & Doors Vivid White - Tintable Ceiling flat for ceilings ( tintable ceiling flat from the dulux range comes as vivid white, there other ceiling flats have black tinter in them) By lowering the sheen levels you'll reduce glare, using aqua-namal will do away with any trim yellowing and you'll have the white finish you're after. Re: Too many whites! 11Feb 26, 2010 7:11 pm Interesting topic, I have 100% hogs bristle walls and looking at upgrading kitchen, but am unsure what "white" to have. Am having beige colour benchtops. I would like a warm white if I could have such a thing...suggestions or pictures of people having a warm toned kitchen would be great!! Armitage57 Re: Too many whites! 13Feb 26, 2010 7:37 pm Hi there Not not really, Im a graphic designer and my aunty an interior designer and we both chose Hosgbristle (hers is 1/2 strength). We are about to get our new house painted. I have chosen half china white but not sure if it will be too light. The full colour looks to dark and our painter said to go the half. Does anyone have half china white on their walls that could give me their opinion? Cheers! Re: Too many whites! 15Mar 08, 2010 9:15 pm I used china white in a reno at another house and I loved it. We used another white with it so I will have a look in the shed think it was USA white. My friends mum is also a designer for dulux and alot of her renos she recommends China White. Realistically I know theres white and white and white etc, but trust your gut feeling! Hope that helps Gretchen Re: Too many whites! 16Mar 08, 2010 9:32 pm armitage57 I used china white in a reno at another house and I loved it. I just need to know if the 50% china white is going to be dark enough. I tested it on a peice of cardboard today and it looks really nice but lighter than I expected. I am sure that against a pure white ceiling and creamy tiles it will be ok. It's just hard to picture. Our painter said to go with the half china white but our friend is goin with the full colour. Do you have any idea what we should do? AAAHHH! Re: Too many whites! 17Mar 19, 2010 11:16 pm We painted about 8 sample tins today and decided on Natural White. We could see the blue in Lexicon 1/4 , Plenum h had shades of pink and Vivid was just too white. In the end it was a tough choice out of Vintage, Natural White and Solver Paper White. Re: Too many whites! 19Apr 02, 2010 7:56 pm Should be no problem in ordering paint in percentages to get a "white" colour that you're after. Such as 12.5% of a colour. When all surfaces are done it looks a white without the starkness of vivid white. Simply putting the 5ooml formula into a 4Lcan. I would never build with Fowler homes.
