Browse Forums Finishing Touch Re: Show me your rug! 21Jan 20, 2010 1:10 pm Rather than start a new thread I thought I'd post in here. Do you guys have any idea where I can pick up a reasonably priced cow hide rug? I've gone from shop to shop and everywhere they seem to be around the $800 mark! I know they stock them at ikea for about $500, but I just don't think the quality is there and they're a little bit small for what I'm after. I stumbled across a couple of sellers on ebay (based in the US) who sell rugs (approx 2 x 2m) around the $250 - $300 mark with postage... but I'm just a bit concerned about buying things internationally. Does anyone have any suggestions? (Other than befriending a farmer ) I've just started writing a blog Re: Show me your rug! 22Jan 20, 2010 1:36 pm VM, there was a thread re this type of furniture etc. not sure if there is anything in it that might help you but may be worth a look. viewtopic.php?f=36&t=28222&p=388043&hilit=+hide+rug#p388043 www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Show me your rug! 23Jan 20, 2010 1:56 pm VM, there is a company called Wortley group, they are a fabric wholesaler they supply the hides to retail outlets and you can choose your style as no 2 are alike. Check out there website and also ring and ask who stocks them in your area. Re: Show me your rug! 24Jan 20, 2010 3:27 pm VM, if Jacka Worltey supply those hides & you don't have an ABN in order to order directly from them, then you should take a look at this company. They might be able to help you : http://www.furnishyourdreams.com.au/textbehindad.asp?catid=1&posID=1 If the hides are not on their website, FYD might be able to source them anyhow. Re: Show me your rug! 27Jan 31, 2010 10:19 am Revisiting this thread for a minute as we are still trying to find the perfect rug! I have found a few on ebay but the issue is that they are a bit bigger.... DH seems to think we need something like the size of the white one in this pic - which is roughly 150cm wide x 240cm long....the other ones I have seen are more like 200cm wide x 290cm long - so much bigger, DH think it would look a bit odd if we had some of the rug going under the tv unit and also under the sofa legs.... Would this rug suit the area or not? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/SHAGGY-RUG_W0QQi ... 4a9e2554b1 Or this one? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/WOW-NEW-BEIGE-MO ... 3%26ps%3D6 Or this? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NEW-MODERN-BROWN ... 3%26ps%3D6 Which out of the 3 or am I better sticking with a plain one? My karma ran over your dogma Re: Show me your rug! 32Jan 31, 2010 11:22 am Ok, this is my opinion and remember I am not an expert I wouldn't put a patterned rug near your patterned poof I would get something with a fleck in it maybe but not a pattern OR if you were to get a pattern I would try and get a similar pattern to the poof....JUST ME we use to call them poofs in the old days when it was ok to do so Re: Show me your rug! 33Jan 31, 2010 11:24 am Thanks Sue - that is what I thought but I had the plain rugs (like the white one in the pic) and the area felt very 'plain'. The black and white one in the first pic is almost identical in print to our 'poof' I like that!! My karma ran over your dogma Re: Show me your rug! 35Feb 01, 2010 3:25 pm haywgl DH think it would look a bit odd if we had some of the rug going under the tv unit and also under the sofa legs.... What do other people think? I don't think it looks odd at all, and can be seen in many of the home mags. It can be very good to tie an area together to define it, especially when it is part of an open plan area. If you look at some of the room in the following link their are room with rugs done both ways http://houseandgarden.com.au/search_results.htm?q=&tids=99&ctids=16 Re: Show me your rug! 36Feb 01, 2010 6:06 pm Can I make a suggestion? I think the rug should be turned around long ways so under the lounges and under the ottoman and out to the unit. I agree 4walls, I think it can be done under the furniture too, if this rug doesn't work that will be my next option I think... Really Michelle? Wouldn't that look a bit funny?? I don't have the white rug anymore, but should get my next one in a few days, I will definately give it a go and post pics for you to see what you think Psst Sue, my name is Bel not Southies My karma ran over your dogma Re: Show me your rug! 38Feb 01, 2010 6:20 pm haywgl Psst Sue, my name is Bel not Southies Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Show me your rug! 39Feb 01, 2010 6:22 pm haywgl Really Michelle?
