Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 Jan 13, 2010 10:24 am Ok I just realised that subject heading could lead to alot of rude comments Keep quiet Mike and Ash Fwiw, I am talking about floor rugs. I am really struggling to find a piece for our lounge room. We did have a white noodle rug, but I have soon realised I just can't keep it clean with my kids and it is gone. Also I don't think it quite worked in the area. It is very hard to find a rug that won't clash with our ottoman.... I'd love some suggestions or show me what works for you! I ordered one off ebay which is really nice BUT the measurements were all wrong and it looks too small, it needs to be atleast 230 in length x 150 in width. Some pics to show what I mean.. We've decided we have to wait until we move in to make sure we get the sizing of the rug just right, because it's not easy to do before you even have your couch! I want our rug to 'tuck' under the feet of the couch on both sides (it's L shaped) as I like that look. I'm thinking something noodly looking in a light grey, but worry that there will be too much grey- grey couch, dark grey tiles So that's another reason why we'll wait. I've seena good one from Freedom, think it's called the Mossman, or something like that. I'd love to see what people have, particularly if you've gone for grey colours. Re: Show me your rug! 3Jan 13, 2010 11:21 am Hi B, Firstly I love your lounge and ottoman with your matching scatters.....just stunning.
Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We had this one from Freed@m it was massive and reasonably easy to look after. It is black and although it has a pattern once the coffee table was on top you didn't really notice it. It really did highlight the cushions though. I remember there was also a rug there that was like a nice soft flat woven rug...a bit like carpet but in a beautiful sage colour..............maybe you could do something like that to highlight your green you have in the pattern. A couple of my most favourite rugs are from Catherine Martin (Baz Laurmans wife). If only the budget stretched that much Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Show me your rug! 4Jan 13, 2010 11:33 am I see what you mean bel, I think that rug is a bit bland next to your gorgeous ottoman. I am almost positive there is a rug with a similar colours in it, a fleck of the green colour with cream...I THINK! I need to see the catalogue again, will let you know. Re: Show me your rug! 5Jan 13, 2010 2:10 pm Thanks girls! PK - those rugs are devine!! I was thinking of sticking with the noodle but in a darker colour, say something like this... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NEW-LATTE-COTTON ... 439c869d2b Or I could go a patterned one like this, but I'm worried patterns will clash with the pattern on the ottoman... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Hand-Tufted-Rug- ... 1e59f0dbb9 http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Hand-Tufted-Rug- ... 4838fa759f Since being in this house I have had 3 different rugs there!! My karma ran over your dogma Re: Show me your rug! 6Jan 13, 2010 10:17 pm Bel, I know how beautiful are those rugs..... I think the latte colour is the best option out of those 3.....I am not sure the patterns will all work in the best. Either a black shag or a colour similar to your ottoman. The beige or the green. The green would be the best option if you can find one in the matching green. Still in love with your ottoman Re: Show me your rug! 7Jan 13, 2010 10:23 pm LOL bel re: title! fwiw, I think a patterned rug, I think that area needs a bit of pizazz with a pattern, but that's my taste, some people like no patterns... I imagine they will be rather expensive but looking for something a bit unique ..... mmmmmm better buy that lotto this week Jazzie Life is like a lolly, suck it and see Re: Show me your rug! 13Jan 14, 2010 7:11 am Thanks everyone (Except Fu - I knew I should have picked a different title!!) I should post a more recent pic as we have added cushions to the lounge and also put some pictures of the kids on the left hand side of the tv. I think the plain latte shag might be the go too, there will definately being something of 'pizazz' going in the area soon, I am on the look out for the perfect canvas pictures to hang on the wall - I want 2 square cavases -probably about 1mx1m in a gorgeous mix of earthy colours - green, chocolate, orange, red..... I am also going to add some green touches on the tv unit it is just hard to find the right ones My karma ran over your dogma Re: Show me your rug! 15Jan 19, 2010 3:52 pm I had to have a look just for the hell of it.
