Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 Dec 01, 2009 9:31 pm I have spent hours and hours searching for 'which white' to use Externally. whisper, natural, watsonia, lexicon, peplum, antique, snow, chalk and have bought 12 sample pots. Our renovation will have a silver zincalume roof and silver alum windows with green tinted glass. Approaching 2010 grey is the new white and a more stark clean industrial look is the trend. What is the best white to use externally to create a stylish beach house ? I like natural white for inside. Re: External Colour Scheme 2009 3Dec 14, 2009 7:45 pm I really like donkey grey in porters but I have been told that it might need a few coats. Anyone else with modern exterior beach house colours?
Re: External Colour Scheme 2009 4Dec 26, 2009 2:47 pm Dune seems to be a popular colour I may paint this inside my home and have it as my front elevation render in the future. I believe you can get it in different shades from 25% to 100%. At present I have surfmist colourbond roofing outside with cream bricks. I would not choose to have beige anywhere. Re: External Colour Scheme 2009 5Jan 01, 2010 5:46 pm I think shale grey render, and matching colourbond roof or shingles looks amazing. Not too light and no where near as dark or hot as charcol colours. Re: External Colour Scheme 2009 6Jan 02, 2010 6:40 am Has anyone seen Wild rice rooftiles (monier)would it match shale grey render? I am also loving the shale grey and have render on the front. My window rames are white so could use surfmist as guttering and garage Re: External Colour Scheme 2009 7Jan 13, 2010 7:35 am is anyone painting cladding such as the primelock weathertex externally? Re: External Colour Scheme 2009 8Jan 13, 2010 8:34 am whitehouse is anyone painting cladding such as the primelock weathertex externally? Is it just weatherboards? I'm not familair with the product name, but we have some weatherboards on our facade (Hardiplank, I think).... So does TheMax Re: External Colour Scheme 2009 9Jan 19, 2010 3:33 pm yes its a modern weatherboard with overlapping boards silver alum windows. Shale Grey colorbond roof. I think i'll go dulux white on white. In Noosa this is very popular to have white externally to create a holiday beach house look. I originally like white watsonia but our local paint specialists said it is plain white (dulux vivid white) with a touch of yellow. It can throw yellow which is a bit old hat now. Re: External Colour Scheme 2009 10Jan 20, 2010 1:16 pm My builder built a house which he used Antique White USA as the main render colour and it doesnt appear too stark. We are using surfmist as the main colour with a dark grey and some antique white usa probably for one wall. I was getting a bit concerned the surfmist will be too stark and was perhaps considering surfmist double? But then I think to myself, the other house has antique white usa and it doesnt look too stark. We are on the northern gold coast so looking for a coastal feel as well. Most houses in our estate are all white with a few grey or dune feature hoods. I am going something a bit different and doing a couple of walls in the dark grey. Re: External Colour Scheme 2009 11Jan 22, 2010 2:40 pm Hi Ms Builder that sounds awesome and exactly what I am on about. We are on the NSW South Coast and I am renovating our fibro holiday house (extending and cladding replacing windows refiguring inside) I love the Hamptons, Queensland Coastal style that is very fashionable at the moment in Northern Beaches Sydney and Mornington Peninsular Melbourne. I have experimented with Antique white USA outside and like that too. Most blogs talk about using it internally and not many 'Externally' hence this blog. The dark grey will really complement the pinkines in the antique white USA. Love it!! I'm renovating - building a small extension at the back of the late Edwardian house. This is the first stage. Second stage of the renovation will be to replace roof on… 0 632 id suggest getting an engineer to give you an opinion rather than a builder. 1 11899 |
