Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 Nov 20, 2009 8:38 am We have just put in beautiful sashless cedar windows in the rebuild & remaining 3 bedrooms of our home - they look amazing The house is basically Victorian at front & rest will be contemporary. I have a dilemma tho I am so over wooden everything (our old house had a lot of beams & exposed wood ) so I've thought long & hard about painting these windows, probably white For the front of the house (one bay window, other wide 3 panes) I was going to get white plantation shutters therefore I think I need to paint the windows white inside & out to have a 'flow on' effect. My sisters called by yesterday & said I was crazy to 'ruin' cedar windows by painting them BUT I want white p/blinds & think it would look out of place if the windows were just stained. They have made me doubt my own decision now Thoughts anyone??? Jazzie Life is like a lolly, suck it and see Re: HELP ! To paint cedar windows or not?? NEED ADVICE 2Nov 20, 2009 8:48 am If your house is Victorian in style, I'd paint them I think. Perhaps you could paint he ones on the facade so they tie in with the style, but not paint the others that are in different locations? I live in Footscray and there are lots of terraces around here and Kensington. A few of DS's friend homes have traditional exteriors with painted windows, then inside the home they have stained or oiled wooden windows and bi-fold doors in the rear areas that are more modern. The mix works really well. It's your house, if you are over the wooden look, paint them all. Have you got some pics of the front, I'm thinking a Victorian facade might look odd with windows that aren't painted. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. My plan is to box up inside… 0 6506 Thank you so much for the effort. We will use it to talk with builder.
