Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 Oct 11, 2009 9:13 am I said in my colours appointment that I will have Wattyl new soft blush on the walls and just white on the doors and trim etc... I knew it would be a gloss enamel, but just found out its full gloss. Do you think white full gloss enamel on window frames, door frames and doors will look tacky??? Should I take the risk of being charged a variation and go to semi gloss??? I love it! I'm pretty sure it's harder wearing than semi gloss too. Re: White full gloss enamel...In or Out?? 3Oct 11, 2009 1:36 pm Hey Kek, are yours white as well?? I just keep getting flash backs to my old house that we repainted. We did the skirting boards etc with a white gloss (and it was more than likely bad painting skills) but it looks really awful and tacky. Lounge room door and matched with the white plantation shutters. And kitchen with the white pantry door. Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. Oh well the wall colours are easier to change later on Thanks again, I appreciate that It's amazing how much you can do with the white, and with a bit of wall colour to contrast it, makes it all comes together quite well. The walls are Wattyl chalk beige and the white is wattyl oriental white. If I was to do it again I would go half strength on the beige though. Re: White full gloss enamel...In or Out?? 10Oct 12, 2009 12:38 pm Hels I think thats what I'm worried about. I just said white. I don't know if they will use oriental white or just plain white I've already sent them 2 emails today, both of which they aren't going to be happy with. One I was telling them I'm getting my own inspector in lol They only use wattyl - I wonder if I will get plain white. Unless I specifically said oreintal white I probably will get just plain white huh *oh crap* Deposits paid 29/4/09 Land settlement 12/08/09 Build contract signed 24/08/09 Colours done 28/09/09 BLOG-http://www.eljaysbuild.blogspot.com/ Re: White full gloss enamel...In or Out?? 11Oct 12, 2009 12:55 pm I just said white too lol. Our builders use wattyl as well, but I just white to match the ceiling. Also, because in our bathrooms, they are fully tiled to the roof in gloss white tiles, so I didn't want the doors opening against them and there being a huge difference in the colour. We are doing the walls after handover and we are using dulux whisper white. I think it's amazing how the difference in the whites on the walls show up against the white skirting etc. I think it has a really nice effect. Re: White full gloss enamel...In or Out?? 12Oct 12, 2009 5:09 pm I know there are lots of different white colours but I don't think they really look all that different unless they have a distinctive tint. Ours is not that different to the ceiling colour which is standard builders white. Your's should be fine, if anything it will be even more white and crisp which will look awesome!
