Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 Sep 14, 2009 4:09 pm Hi all, I have a window by the stairs, 3.1m high x 0.8m wide. My intention is to cover it with a roller blind with some light filtering fabric. However, I was told by a blind company that the maximum height for a roller blind, venetian and roman blind will be 2.4m, some fabric may have up to 3m. But nothing can cover the 3.1 high window. Is this true?? Do I happen to have an unusually large/tall window? What do people use to cover such tall window generally? Any comments is appreciated! Can you stand on the stairs and acutally pull down the blind if it is all they way up the top? It seems like a massive window to me, you could get a custom made shutter, which would cost you approx $1000. Re: Blinds options for a 3.1m high window 3Sep 14, 2009 9:47 pm Yes, this is quite a massive window (height-wise). The window can't be opened. Re: Blinds options for a 3.1m high window 6Sep 15, 2009 12:34 pm Southies, thanks for the suggestion. But I would prefer blind over film as I can still pull up the blind while film can't billdsl, I was accent I went to. They are custom making the blinds (I think) and they just say they don't do that. I am not sure if it is just them or maybe other company is more flexible. Re: Blinds options for a 3.1m high window 8Sep 25, 2009 12:38 pm if that was me I'd never get around to opening the roller blind anyway, makng that huge lovely window a bit of a waste Are you absolutely opposed to curtains? a sheer one might do the trick. Oh... but perhaps not at night hehe. Is there a particular neighbour's window or something you're looking for the privacy from? Maybe some kind of vertical louvre on the outside? Re: Blinds options for a 3.1m high window 9Feb 28, 2010 9:18 pm i know we can do up to 3.6meters X 2.8 meters with out railroading the fabric, the problem is most places only have a table that can cut up to 3meters. Will you be able to reach the chain from the bottom of the stairs anyway ? Venetians, Verticals, Shutters & Romans will also work. Re: Blinds options for a 3.1m high window 11Mar 01, 2010 11:41 am Accent blinds installed a 3.1m drop roller blind for me there. The thing they were concerned about was the heavy load on the roller. Since the blind will not be rolled up and down often, it was ok and they are happy to install that for me.
