Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 Aug 15, 2009 10:01 pm After many months of searching I have finally found what I thought were the almost perfect sheers for my DD's room. (they're on ebay) But I showed my ma tonight and she thinks they look tacky What does the H1 team think please???!!! Be honest, I can handle it I have waited this long for my DD's curtains, I can wait a little longer if they are not right! (And yes, I know it should be whatever *I* want blah blah blah, but I just don't want everyone coming in there to think how tacky I/my daughter am/is!) Re: Are these curtains tacky? 6Aug 15, 2009 10:10 pm thanks guys! pinkfairymagic what is NMS? an online shop? MagicJ, DD is 15 months old. Her bedroom walls are white, and we have some pink & purple decals of butterflies on one wall, and a couple of colourful pictures. There is no main theme colour, just bitsa everything! I got the inspiration from Dakota Fanning's bedroom in the movie Man on Fire - they aren't as nice as hers though! Can't believe I found a picture, well done me Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ If anyone knows where I could get curtains (or even fabric) like this let me know! Re: Are these curtains tacky? 7Aug 15, 2009 10:14 pm Dragonfly Not my cup of tea but if it's what you like then go for it. i think they would look good between some dark pink curtains to set off the pink flowers.. Dragonfly, do you think the thing you don't like about them might be that they are too 'netty'? That's what I am wondering. Whereas Dakota's are woven more finely and just look like sheer ... I don't know what sort of fabric??? I'm not looking to frame them with anything as we have roller shutters on the outside of the window to keep out light. Re: Are these curtains tacky? 9Aug 15, 2009 10:25 pm My DD has a "bitsa" room too at the moment - she is just over 3. Mostly Dora stuff - it isn't as cute as a lot of the girl's rooms I have seen on here, but it is what she likes and wants, so that's what I think is important. Her curtains are pink with big fat bumblebees on them - again because she likes them - we haven't hung them yet because her room is to be repainted pale pink soon. I don't think there is really any such thing as "tacky" for a little one's room (well, within reason, I suppose ) and I definitely don't think these fall into that category. If you like them and it suits the rest of DD's room, I say go for it! Re: Are these curtains tacky? 10Aug 15, 2009 10:38 pm PFM .... OHHH, Not My Style!!! OK then, thanks for your honesty! That website has some nice things but no curtains... MagicJ - I think that's fantastic that you are letting her have whatever she wants! See, all too soon, I too will have an opinionated 3yo on my hands, so I only get one chance to do this so I might as well make the most of it and make it perfect! Having said that, they ARE only $30 including postage, and they sure as hell are better than the bare window that is there at the moment ... but if I get them as a 'for now' solution I will put off the more permanent decision till maybe never ... aaaargh decisions! My opinionated DD was caught drawing with crayons on our playroom carpet today, because she "wanted to make it look pretty !" Luckily DH managed to get it off with some WD40. Re: Are these curtains tacky? 14Aug 16, 2009 1:02 am Hi Donuts, I have a pack of very similar curtains (I bought them from Spotlight 2 years ago and they are still sitting in its plastic wrapper!). It looked "nice" until I took them out and I changed my mind about them....it was too netty for my liking. I'd bought them for my daughter's room (she's now 6 yrs old) but ended up not using them at all. If you want something more sheer (like in Dakota Fanning's pic), I would suggest going to spotlight and having a browse through their fabric section. I ended up getting some sheer material with medium sized pastel coloured polka dots and making my own sheer curtains. If you're still interested in the net curtains, let me know and I'll give you mine (But I would have to check the sizing of it). YUP...I would be give it to you FOC - you just need to pay for the postage only. Seriously! So let me know and PM me. At least, if you don't like it, you would only have spent money on postage. ta, Building thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22917 27.07.09 Contract signed. 08.09.09 Site scraped. 18.09.09 Slab completed! 23.11.09 Bricking done 09.03.10 - Tiling 15.04.10 PCI 01.05.10 Handover Re: Are these curtains tacky? 15Aug 16, 2009 1:03 am tc2000 Hi Donuts, I have a pack of very similar curtains (I bought them from Spotlight 2 years ago and they are still sitting in its plastic wrapper!).
