Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 Aug 12, 2009 4:42 pm I'm considering this colour for our house exterior with Colorbond Dune highlight areas and Midnight Sky or Monument gutters/fascias. Has anyone used it, or seen it in action? The Dulux "paint-your-own house" program doesn't seem to have it but I found it on a Dulux colour chart. Your three choices should look great together... Re: Has anyone seen Dulux 'Raw Cashew Nut' on an exterior? 4Aug 20, 2009 2:50 pm monaclare are you going for a dune roof or the darker monument? Current plans are - Roof: Surfmist House exterior (weatherboard): Raw cashew nut Exterior feature (walls facing decks): Kwila timber planking 2nd Exterior feature (around one corner): Dune colorbond with horizontal alignment Window frames: Black Gutters/fascias: Midnight sky to match windows if available, if not, Monument Front door: undecided, but currently thinking Black (does anyone know if that has any bad superstitions attached?) or possibly timber stain to match the Kwila deck and walls Looking at the Dulux colour chart Raw cashew nut seems to be a full shade lighter than Dune, while on Michelle's posted samples above they appear to be about the same intensity. I'm thinking I will need to get a sample pot just to be sure. monaclare I've never seen raw cashew on a wall but the house on the front of the dulux chart features it Can't believe I didn't notice that, will have to go back for another look! We have jasper on the front of the house, dune on the big side closer to the pool, dune roller door, black corinthian madison range door (is open in this pic so you cant see it) these pics were taken ages ago before bottom half painted, but they were eventually painted same as top..but you get the idea of the black gutters and window frames with the dune... We obviously like the same things. Even your current house is the style we like. Yes, skillion is flat. This style of thing (but ours will be on stilts): Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Is that the Jasper at the top? (Not that I was previously thinking of using Jasper LOL! The Dune seems to be a little lighter than I was expecting, but they say that about exterior colours, don't they. Mmmm... maybe I should be looking at changing the Dune to a darker colour and keeping the Raw Cashew Nut... Kylie Re: Has anyone seen Dulux 'Raw Cashew Nut' on an exterior? 9Aug 21, 2009 11:02 am No I'm uselss with colour, especially if dune is grey as I see it as mushroom! it goes really nicely with the jasper though! so do the black gutters, very crisp looking. Love your house!!! especially the windows at the top! Dune is light but on front of the dulux chart raw cashew looks much darker than dune... Re: Has anyone seen Dulux 'Raw Cashew Nut' on an exterior? 11Aug 21, 2009 1:06 pm monaclare especially if dune is grey as I see it as mushroom! Me too - OMG how bizarre!!! It's the hint of brown in it that I like over Shale Grey. monaclare Dune is light but on front of the dulux chart raw cashew looks much darker than dune... Michelle If you were my client I would tell you the same thing. I think I'm going to have to head down to Bunnings and grab a few of those shade cards and sample pots. I don't really mind which one of the colours is lighter/darker but I think there will need to be some intensity contrast or it will just look like someone made a mistake when painting. Has Midnight Sky been discontinued as a colorbond colour? It isn't on their website colour range but I've seen it on whirlybird sample chips at the hardware and it's in the Dulux and some other brand paint brochures. monaclare Love your house!!! especially the windows at the top! The windows at the top have proved the trickiest thing to get into the design (so far). While our builder and I seem to be on the same wavelength about them, the draftsman seems to be on another plane altogether. At least I haven't had to give them up (touch wood!) - I'm really keen to give them a try to see if we can get good airflow happening and avoid using the A/C so much. Raw Cashew Nut wasn't on a sample card so I was outta luck anyway! Definitely need to paint up a big board and look at it at different times of the day. The weatherboards will be the main colour so I need to be sure I'm happy.
