Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 Jul 01, 2009 12:31 am hi everyone... i have done asking about hallways. now, i am going to ask advice about color scheme. we are going for our color appointment this weekend, and trying to get on some research. am liking two schemes at the moment. (1) dark grey/black floor tiles, white ceiling/trims and green walls, and (2) light grey floor tiles, white ceiling trims and foggy grey walls. attached are pictures where i got the inspiration. my question is, we are having some dark wood asian furniture, which scheme do you think will go well with it? thanks for your help, guys Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Dark or light? 3Jul 01, 2009 8:16 am love the first one.2nd one not so much. But I'd want to get that exact shade of green to go with it.. Re: Dark or light? 4Jul 01, 2009 9:12 am thanks, kexkez... here are the details from the magazine: (1) Dulux Cucumber Crush (full strength) with Vivid White (2) Resene Foggy Grey (no info on white) Re: Dark or light? 5Jul 01, 2009 2:23 pm I agree with Kexkez, absolutely love the first picture, it looks great! I think green looks really good with dark furniture. Re: Dark or light? 6Jul 01, 2009 3:06 pm Thanks, MagicJ... Since the first picture is dark timber floors, do you think would it still have the same aesthetic effect with dark porcelain tiles, say charcoal grey or black? Re: Dark or light? 7Jul 01, 2009 3:15 pm I think it would. But I am totally no expert, unlike some of the clever people in here. I only know what I like . If it were me, it would depend on the exact colour of my dark furniture (ie. is it black, charcoal, chocolate, etc.) when choosing a tile colour, but I don't see why it wouldn't have the same effect as the dark timber. I am hoping to have a similar effect in my laundry, which is a large room ie green walls with dark benchtop & cupboards, but I am going with a sandstone coloured floor tile. Haven't exactly picked the wall colour yet, but that Cucumber Crush looks really nice, at least in the picture. Sounds like your house will be one that I like MagicJ MagicJ I finally have my own reno thread: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=28335 The reason a dog has so many friends is that he wags his tail instead of his tongue! Re: Dark or light? 8Jul 02, 2009 12:21 am I love green with wooden furniture. We used a lime green from Porters for a feature wall in my DD's previous bedroom. She had a lot of wooden furniture and white accessories and it looked great. We also put sea blue throws/ornaments into the room for added effect. It's a nice combination. Re: Dark or light? 9Jul 02, 2009 10:38 am thanks, guys, for liking the green. that confirms i am not alone. my hubby just proclaimed that he will not interfere with the color choices doubt it... anyway, i found another one to add to my confusion. here is a feature wall in stripes. it is painted Dulux Fauna in satin and glossy finish. was thinking of a 3rd option: rich taupe for the walls, then feature wall will be stripes. hope the builder has a tradie who can execute it well.
