Hi
Help please. We are in process of a renovation.
Our walls are currently rendered but they will need to patched where we have added/removed windows walls etc.
The builders renderer came and said if we patch with render we will see the difference between the old and new and it won't look good. The biggest wall needs to be gyprocked as there is a steel beam in place that if rendered will crack. Our builder is gyprocking this very large wall at their cost. The remaining 3 walls in the large space we have opened are going to have patched rendered walls. Is it cheaper to patch the rendered area or is gyprocking cheaper.
This is our first reno and we are not handy people and have no idea. I prefer rendered walls to gyprock but would prefer my walls to look nice and clean not *******. My other concern if we gyprock is hanging heavy paintings/pictures, plasma. Do you need to drill through the gyprock and into the render? Is gyprock stuck on to the wall or is it attached to battens nailed into the rendered wall?
Any advice or comments welcome.
