Browse Forums Finishing Touch Re: A few final touches 21May 17, 2009 6:35 pm I'm hunting for fabric for my antique chair to finish off the family room. Here's a pic of the chair I'd like to recover. The colour of the cushion suits the room very well but anything brighter (turquoise) looks out of place. I bought some pillows home over the weekend to try in the room and the dark teal and grey, blue, silver coloured pillows worked the best. Re: A few final touches 22May 17, 2009 7:27 pm I like the stripes in option 1 and 2 and the pattern in option 3. Not together of course. I think 1 needs something more of a blue/silver for the seating rather than that grey. At least the way it looks on my monitor. In option 2 the plain blue seems too strong. good luck with the project . i'm sure it will look fabulous when completed. i'm really envious that you can recover chairs. i've no idea on how to do it myself though my MIL is a bit of an expert from memory.. Re: A few final touches 23May 17, 2009 7:31 pm I like the last option ..... I think it would tie in with the kitchen colours. But it may not be strong enough for the space .... maybe option 1..... or maybe 2. All the options are lovely! I'm not helping am I? I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: A few final touches 24May 17, 2009 7:58 pm Love options 1 and 4 - but I agree with Kexkez, the plain grey might be better in a darker shade? I think the patterned fabric will just make the silver-grey look wishy-washy. It must be the day for fabric...I've been scouring fabric websites, looking for blind/curtain fabric and I'm about to go crazy. Kexkez sorry to disappoint you but I'm just picking the fabric. I'm not clever enough to recover it myself . Re: A few final touches 27May 18, 2009 4:30 am out of that last lot the 2nd combination. the grey is much better than the original one. Re: A few final touches 28May 18, 2009 8:38 am ooh that third option in your last post is really special, but I still think I'd go with the second option from your last post. I think I'd just do somethng different to stripes because I've seen so many with stripes. Re: A few final touches 29May 18, 2009 9:46 am Wow I love them all Dy, can't decide which one I like best, you've done so well seeing all those lovely fabrics. All I know is I want to see the end result!! Also wanted to say that I love your DH's idea of the padded bedhead using your pelmet material. Maybe you could let him do it once he changes the feature wall?? "Your emotions are the slaves to your thoughts, and you are the slave to your emotions." — Elizabeth Gilbert Living in our new house. I've been trawling through the ikea website, but I can't find the desk that you used. Is it part of the Effektiv range too?
