Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 May 03, 2009 11:14 pm My daughter is going to be 7 in September and I'd like to get her a cubby. She doesn't like wood because it could give her splinters , so I've found a few different versions of the cubby made of material. Not cheap but I wondered if others had seen anything like it and if they are any good for this age group. http://www.forestandzoe.com/items/tee-p ... plenty.htm This one is about 5 ft wide by 5.5 high. Re: Kids space 2May 04, 2009 9:27 pm DeeElle, check out a brand called Haba, they make some beautiful tent spaces for kids.....i am forever drooling over them http://www.littlepeopleimports.com.au/c ... _4c_01.jpg I found it here.... http://www.littlepeopleimports.com.au/c ... Itemid,56/ I love it...just need to convince DH hehehehe. Re: Kids space 3May 04, 2009 9:54 pm very cute Flissfloss. I think I prefer the teepee for some reason. Maybe because they look easier to dismantle .. no hanging from the ceiling. The room tents are beautiful as well.. Good luck with convincing hubby . Re: Kids space 4May 04, 2009 10:00 pm I bought a small thick plush carpet and lay it in the corner of DD (6)'s room and put a bunch of pillows, a beanbag, a bookshelf nearby with books and called it her "reading corner". She likes to curl up in there and play or read. I thought it something a little more mature for her, she liked that idea.. more grown up than a playroom, she then has the actual playroom for when she doesn't want to be more grown up.. Re: Kids space 5May 10, 2009 2:06 am saw a tent today at Ikea for around $9.95. DD fell in love with it but I wouldn't get it for her because it was a bit small ... I'll have to find something soon because I'm getting a bit tired of taking the pegs off the sheets strung between chairs, boxes and furniture in the garage . edit: and I just bribed DD with the promise of a tent so she would wear pants for a kids party . Re: Kids space 6May 10, 2009 7:53 pm Hi DeeElle, Here are a couple more tepees for you to look at..... http://www.ministyle.com.au/shop//play/Kids-Teepee/# http://www.kidsgiftlist.com.au/d/DDT070 ... nk-teepee/ http://www.monkeytailandwellington.com. ... 340002.htm I think they are so cute and the bonus thing would be that you could move it outside on sunny days for your dd to have tea parties or just chill out reading in there. Hope this helps! Oh by the way your dds room is just gorgeous too Re: Kids space 7May 13, 2009 12:32 pm Okay I've found a lovely teepee at Seed so I'm off to pick it up on Friday. Hopefully it is big enough for Miss 6 going on 16. Once its up I'll take a pic .. as long as the toys are put away . Re: Kids space 8May 16, 2009 7:29 pm I really like the Marrakesh room tent but can't seem to find it anywhere in OZ to buy it and have no idea how much it is. Can anyone kindly help me please? Also, do you think this room tent would suit a 2y/o or 8y/o girl better??? Re: Kids space 9May 17, 2009 11:10 am Hi Pinkfairymagic! I found a small toy shop that stocks the haba tents. They also are willing to order any other haba products, i can find out if they will do an interstate order if you like?. I also did a google search on haba play tents and found the aussie importer.. http://www.littlepeopleimports.com.au/c ... Itemid,56/ Maybe a email to them would be a good idea? I think the tent would be ok for both ages, but i personally am getting one for my older dd. It will be a great place to curl up with a book or just close it up and play in "secret" Hope this helps a bit!! Re: Kids space 10May 17, 2009 1:09 pm Hmm I'm now weighing up whether to go tee pee or the ones that drape from the ceiling. I thought I was sold on the tee pees as you can move them around easily but now I'm not so sure. I found several kids shops in Adelaide that sell them and they would no doubt be available elsewhere. Now I've started ringing around I've found plenty Seed have a range of tee pees for around $350. Red and white stripe is on my possibility list. http://www.seedchild.com.au/ Dobbin and Drum also have a very nice range - they are in Qld but we get them here so you can probably get them in other states http://www.dobbinanddrumtoys.com/home.htm And one of my current faves is from OOP http://www.outdoorsonparade.com.au/ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ So a few decisions to make I think. Re: Kids space 12May 19, 2009 6:26 pm joles Ok, it might just be me..... but I really, really want one of these. For me! I'm not kidding! well you are a big girl ... why not . they do look inviting ... the perfect accompaniment to lots of pillows and a good book. Re: Kids space 13Jun 06, 2009 1:19 am Flissfloss did you end up getting the Marakeesh tent for your older girl?? I'm still trying to purchase a Dobbin & Drum or Lucy and Michael Playtent. I also like the Haba playtents but you need to hang them from a hook so not so easy to move around. Re: Kids space 14Jun 06, 2009 1:35 am Purchased three collages for DD's room. I really love this artist .. she does beautiful collages, original art and limited edition prints. Re: Kids space 15Jun 06, 2009 7:36 pm They are goegous - please tell me they do boys ones and where they are!!! Re: Kids space 16Jun 06, 2009 9:54 pm Hi DeeElle.... Nope, no joy on the haba tent yet. DH thinks there is not enough room in her room for it ..(if that makes any sense!!) She has a pendant light in one corner hanging above her bed, so i thought the other side would be perfect for the tent but we are still "discussing" it. Hahaha, i think i MIGHT just get one anyway . Both of the tents you are looking at are lovely, i like the lucy and michael ones a bit more due to the lovely fabric...how cute. Theyre quite a good size too. Is your DDs room big? i don't think we would have enough space for one of those. I would love to see some pics of the collages in DDs room when you have framed them, very cute!!! Re: Kids space 17Jun 07, 2009 8:50 am Oh they are gorgeous DeeElle, my 8 year old daughter would just love one of those. I need ideas for her Birthday and Christmas Present as she has every thing else. Thanks for sharing, and yes i agree, tell hubby if he wants to just buy a tent, that is fine but he will be the one using it on these cold winter nights ha ha Re: Kids space 18Jun 07, 2009 10:24 am DeeElle Purchased three collages for DD's room. I guess you just have to think about how your daughter will 'play' in them. Will she be having tea parties and need to fit in a small table and chairs and her friends, or will she be sitting around on cushions? My 8 year saw me look at the teepees you posted and wants one now!! But she is quite tall, so I would have to get her something like the marquee. or a plastic cubby. http://www.spellboundplaygrounds.com.au/home.htm these guys are in adelaide these guys promise spider free cubbies http://www.play-in.com.au/ Re: Kids space 20Jun 08, 2009 3:51 pm I purchased the original collage from One Small Room in Adelaide and then ordered the other 2 off the net once I found the person who made them. Try this site: http://www.tsktsk.com.au/content/standard.asp? I found the collages under 'original artwork' but I'm not sure if she has any left. I'm sure she is making more though, or contact One Small Room as they had a few framed ones left when I was there. http://www.onesmallroom.com.au/home.html I really don't know what to do about the teepee. I found the Lucy and Michael teepee's in Australia and have a spot upstairs for it but am weighing up whether to get DD a bigger swingset that has a fort and cubby - in which case the tee pee is not a priority (although it would be great indoors .... at 350 I think I'd rather put it into the swingset). netadelle ... I've seen the spellbound ones ... they look great and compared to others they are not badly priced ... around 1K for a double swing and another 1k for the monkey bars. The fort on the other hand is around 2-3K and I'm starting to run out of enthusiasm at that cost . You must be reading my mind as I've been scouting the kids websites looking for decent play equipment. I'll post a few of my 'best finds' in here soon. Bathroom renovation will likely include a back-to-corner bath and we’re considering a freestanding tap with hand-held shower such as the picture included.
