Browse Forums Finishing Touch Re: Zinsser Bullseye 1-2-3 Primer Q's (Interior Doors etc) 3Apr 21, 2009 10:46 pm You will have no troubles after using the Zinsser as it is an excellent product (probably one of the best problem solving undercoats). Though as a qualified painter I would recommend you reconsider your choice of using a low sheen finish on your doors due to the fact that it is not the best choice for them. For walls low sheen is fine but on doors i think you will find they will scratch and mark very easily resulting in you needing to paint them regularly. I would suggest dulux aquaenamel in semi gloss as a better choice but yes the sheen level will be higher but the coating is much more scratch and wear resistant as most doors require. Hope that helps. Re: Zinsser Bullseye 1-2-3 Primer Q's (Interior Doors etc) 5Apr 26, 2009 7:32 pm I agree with the PP - I used and continue to use it for the icky mission brown skirting, architrave and interior doors in my home. The coverage is excellent and it does the trick. I have a very hands on toddler and a 5 year old and so far the primer under the new enamel (dulux aquaenamel in semi gloss as toto recommended)has done the trick in all our high traffic / high touch areas. Appreciate all the help guys, can you confirm that your doors etc were painted with a gloss oil paint prior to using the zinsser though ? Re: Zinsser Bullseye 1-2-3 Primer Q's (Interior Doors etc) 7Apr 28, 2009 1:42 pm DJAGE Yep the product was used both on standard stain and on some 20yr+ old oil based enamel paint. The Zinsser covered well on all - I have used it as a pre-paint primer on new plaster successfully too. Cheers, Tash I am looking for someone who might have tackled a similar issue as me.
