Browse Forums Finishing Touch 1 Mar 10, 2009 8:18 am So my DH and l decided we would try and paint a feature wall on the weekend, it appeared as though the paint went on evenly when we were painting, waited 2 hours before doing a second coat, we thought we did all the right things, but its dried unevenly.
So was wondering if there was a way we can fix that without starting again? Its not bad, but it is noticeable because of the colour. If we paint over just the lighter bits then let that dry and do a full coat again will that work or just make it worst? Any advice would be GREAT and much needed! Lime green, but a bright lime green if that makes sense! i thought if all else fails mayb do the strokes u see on some feature walls, zig zag, then l don't know if l trust myself to do that right! l dont know what to do! My DH thinks adding more coats will solve it! im worried it will make it worst! Re: Uneven paint- Need help! 4Mar 10, 2009 7:37 pm I'm not a trained painter by any means but I have done a lot of feature walls in my current house - most of which are quite rich colours - bright fuschia pink, bright purple, dark red and dark chocolate brown.
So I would say try painting the light parts with a fine coat with a roller to try and even it out a bit. Then once completely dry check it all out and put on a complete coat. In total you wouldn't want any more than 3 coats. Also check that when you are using the roller you are distributing the paint evening - diagonaly down/straight up - this was the techinique taught to me and it's always worked quite well. I personally can't stand zig zags - very 1993! Hope that helps! Re: Uneven paint- Need help! 5Mar 10, 2009 7:40 pm Give the wall a light sand back with a fine sand paper.
Becoause the paint is so light/bright, you may need a 3rd coat to give coverage. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Uneven paint- Need help! 7Mar 11, 2009 9:18 am A - what paint are you using ??
B - How are you rolling this onto the wall - ie from top to bottom then zig xag left to right. You also need to be quick you cant touch the paint with the roller after it has started to dry even briefly. Re: Uneven paint- Need help! 8Mar 11, 2009 11:18 am borg A - what paint are you using ??
