Cost to paint exterior of house?

Hi all

I'm trying to get an idea of a 'reasonable' price to paint the exterior of a rendered house. The house is 375m2 and I have received a quote to paint the exterior for $12k which seems very pricey to me considering the rendering is only going to cost $7k.

Any opinions/recommendations?

hi sandy, i am building a 19 square house with coral homes and they have quoted $5674.00 to do a full sponge finish render including painting. So yeah, $12,000.00 for just the paint does so pretty exe :shock:

if the painters are there onsite doing work already it may reduce the cost, i was looking at some costs a friend had from plantation and they wanted up near 14k for some of their render finishes, so maybe 12k for painters to come and do the work isnt too bad, thats a big house to paint as well

just something else to confuse things more :-)

and not to say that house builders dont do a really good job, a painter may put more effort and materials in than a builder does

the $14,0000.00 would be render & paint though wouldn't it?

so really, we're talking $19,000.00 for render and paint... :shock:

Bumping this up to hopefully get some more insight.

We are currently getting quotes to paint our 3 bedroom weatherboard (approx 100m2 of floor space) - and we've been quote $9,000 and that's not even including our shed or the wooden battens under the main house...

Someone else was saying she only paid $2.5k including sanding so we are getting ripped off?

I think 9k is a lot of money to paint a house (especially considering he said it was in fairly good condition except one wall which needs to be stripped back), but if this is standard, I guess we better start saving :/

i guess unless someone comes out and gives you a real quote you'd only be ball parking .. but i've seen builders charge as high as $26,000 for render paint finish and $14,000 for moroka bag n paint .. if you do it on your own, it should work out to be cheaper ..
